Haven't watched this ep yet but based on the only other Star Wars thing I've seen her direct I can't agree with your enthusiastic endorsement, dime.

Her S1 ep was probably the worst one of the season. But maybe this new episode will change my mind.

I do remember that ep as being pretty bad, but this one is good. I agree with Dime, it kinda felt like something Lucas would do in the 80s.

this season has been successful so far on telling a bigger story. I would say that only EP1 felt a little like season 1.

They’re already working on season three and filming starts in March. These seemingly random ‘filler’ episodes Throughout both seasons will come to fruition

Look at the stupid space whales who could do hyperspace episode in rebels. And look where it went. They were vital. And remain vital. We still don’t know where Ezra is.

To your final point that is too much to hope for. At the same time, it’s entirely possible.
Him being told about the helmet is just him learning about his culture and it isn’t one unified. There’s factions. She acknowledges that and his view of it by saying ‘this is the way’ to him , twice.
He doesn’t know anything about Mandalore or Mandalorians.
He a foundling. Looking after a foundling. Hoping to learn along the way to completing the quest given him.

I have no problem with the kind of episodes you call "filler" and I call "bottle episodes." They make the difference in this being a long, 8 hour slog of a movie and it being good serialized TV. Plus, they let people who haven't yet memorized Wookiepedia step in and enjoy this series, even if they don't want to dedicate a full day to it.

There’s gonna be a face off with moff Gideon and for the darksaber. Be it Luke. The other one or katan. But that’s coming.

We have a feast ahead. Filoni directing episode isn’t the next one but the one after. Look to that for the answer.

Luke having anything to do with the Darksaber is a super longshot. Also, doesn't make any sense. I fully expect Bo Katan to return and square off for that. She deserves that fight.

However, I'm all in on Luke having something to do with Ahsoka and The Child. That would be rad.

How many days have we fanboied about seeing Ahsoka live action.
It’s coming.

There’s your face off. She’ll get the dark saber for peace on Mandalore.
She’s no Jedi. She’ll stress that repeatedly. But she’ll deliver that darksaber.
The spin off Series is she takes baby yoda To find Luke.
And then a spin off of that of Luke Training his new Jedi academy
