If they put as much effort into remixing and remastering Lost Dogs 2 as they did with Lost Dogs to make it seamless and cohesive, it will be interesting to see the S/t Outtakes and how they sound, although I'm starting to think there aren't that many complete b-sides around from last 3 albums..

The S/T album was recorded in the same studio with the same producer as Riot Act and all the unmastered and rough mix tracks available reveal a similar warmth and naturalness to me. Unfortunately it seems as though it got slaughtered at the mastering stage.

Think of the difference in their overall discography if they...
a) didn't bail on tchad blake at the end of binaural (and released the original tracklist)
b) didn't fuck up the mastering on s/t.

Remember when these songs first leaked? There was a rumor from the leaker that they came off of a disc with 9 more songs. Did anything ever become of that?

No idea. But whether those songs were on tape, or on a hard drive, assembling them together on a disc would take a fair amount of effort if there was no end-game in mind. It could just be that some assistant from the original sessions had been sitting on them and decided to leak them now, but my money is on those tracks being revisited by the band for one reason or another.

Those things "surface" when they are sent to record company executives for consideration and opinions. They are usually referred to as "internal promos" (ie. promotional but not for public view) and they are on CD-R. Basically it's a modern day "acetate", so it's not unusual.

I'm sure we'll get them in another ten years with brand new vocal tracks.

Let it Ride, specifically, is one that they could throw into a setlist out of nowhere and people would be like "WTF?". I'm sure a lot of the more casual "Jamily" are still unaware of these songs, so the would hear them at a show and scramble to find out about them afterwards.

These two are probably top 5 post Riot Act. Cold Confession for sure. Let it Ride might be just out of the top 5.
