The bridge in Life Wasted is the most pink-floyd-ish stuff they've done, and they did describe that influence before Avocado. So there's that.

Anything good in Life Wasted was killed by that abomination of a music video

It wasn't bad, just kind of pointless.

No. It was so bad it kinda ruined the song for me. I cant hear it without thinking about how much I hate the video.

Re: 10th album rumors and speculation
I never liked the chorus of that one. The words are all sorts of meh, the melody is just this side of adequate, and the "Now we're rocking that much harder on a bit we've already played a lot" attempt to give it some muscle undercuts the rolling qualities that could have made it really cool.
It's not played in a great key, either. Ed gets kinda squeaky and pinched on the high notes, which might work okay in some places but fucks it all up in others.

I really like the bridge, right down to 'Why let the sad song play?' and Ed's laugh.

On record, yes. It actually sounds like an unplanned moment, possibly caused by something happening in-studio, that they decided to keep in the song, because it fit.harmless wrote:I really like the bridge, right down to 'Why let the sad song play?' and Ed's laugh.
But I've heard two live versions of the song, and he "laughed" both times.
That, by comparison, is corny as fuck.

Yeah, I suppose it is. So it'll pretty much be the same as now, with more and more time passing between new records until at some point there just never ends up being a new album at the other end of the wait.theplatypus wrote:I think that's pretty much where the band is now.Lament wrote:I can easily see the whole Pearl Jam machine slowing down to the point where they still exist, but it's just a few short tours every year and a handful of "event" type shows (a la Wrigley Field) and a few random releases here and there.

Re: 10th album rumors and speculation
These guys are old. IMO this new album is going to suck!
Granted nothing is better than the anxious of new PJ music, but between how awful their last album was/is and the years in between albums now days this is just the beginning of the end.
I have been to about a dozen shows and IMO you see PJ once, you seen it all. It is also terrible to listen to EV these days. His voice is just beyond shot and hurts the ears trying to listen to him.
I think once they get to the point where they no longer create new music its just a matter of time till they don't fill venues anymore.

I thought you were the positive guy. You are just the nostalgia guy? Seen one show, you seen it all? Really? I wouldn't mind if they stopped filling up ARENAS, but that isn't going to happen anytime soon.nightmareblack0206 wrote:These guys are old. IMO this new album is going to suck!

I woke up thinking about new Pearl Jam. I'm still hopeful they can give us less "fixer" and more "1/2 fuller".

This post is based on one or two substantive premises, but on the whole posits too many baseless theories and simplistic opinions, which simply make one (me) ask: why are you still on this forum if you think such things? It also suffers from occasional instances of bad spelling and grammar, thus undermining your points even further.nightmareblack0206 wrote:These guys are old. IMO this new album is going to suck!

Re: 10th album rumors and speculation
Im typing several things at once here at work. Apologies for grammatical errors.
Everything I posted above is just my opinion. I love PJ. It just bothers me to see them at this stage of their career. I remember when these guys were basically worshiped by everyone and flat out rocked.
If my opinions have offended anyone, that was not my intent but I will never apologize for them. That is my right.
