The snare drum alone can change the whole sound.
Slightly ot, but, then again, Jack Irons is never off-topic...LOVE that snare sound on the Jack records

Still waiting on pics of trag and strat with their Grammys tho.
Lots of shitty music wins grammys though, dude.

Matt's snare drum choice has a LOT more to do with the sound of these drums than some here think
Agreed. Which is why I don't worry about it too much. If the songs and performances are good, I'm stoked. In a perfect world, their production would be flawless. But that ship sailed long ago with them.
pretty much yep

Running is the best clip from the album so far. That one has me hyped.
This thread does not.

I’m much more concerned about the WAY they play their instruments (effects choices, tuning, cadence, intonation, etc). They’ve made a lot of wrong choices in the past (to my ears), and there is no greater example than grievance (album version). Production and mixing is not unimportant, but to me the biggest difference so far is that I’m really liking the way these tracks sound at the ground level. Sure, I could make some improvements to fit my personal taste but by and large, they are doing these songs justice. Of course, a lot left to be revealed.

Or maybe that's just what it sounds like, lol
Judging a song's production based on a screen recording posted on twitter and then saying how production/sound quality is so important sounds a little funny, I gotta say. That said, we have Dark Matter as a reference and much of what the rockers/heaviers are gonna sound is probably there, as Watt makes very uniform records (sound-wise).
I'm very happy, the band sounds excited, the songs/snippets sound just as authentic as Gigaton/Avocado did and nothing sounds as bad as Avocado/BS/LB (I'd even include the lackluster sound of Riot Act, but that's another can of worms and not decided if it's production or songwriting)
Could there be any aspects of the production being made for dolby atmos that make it sound different on other forms? Serious question, I dont know anything about this but Dark Matter on Atmos sounds alot different from the normal version.
Can anybody give a light on this?
I agree that the Atmos version is how this album is going to be truly meant to be heard. Josh Evans is supposed to be part of that. Dark Matter is a different animal in Atmos vs the standard version. The production sounds so much better.

I'm curious about Atmos but I'm a complete noob to it. What is the most basic setup that one would need at home in order to experience Atmos?

The first time I listened to the Atmos version i noticed the echo in Eds voice coming off “Matter” in the verses, subtle things that make the song alot different. Guitar effects are also more upfront, particularly in the outro.

I've won six grammys under various pseudonyms. Only two weren't bullshit.

Holy crap, a lot must have happened today (while I was trying to work!) Is it just the new clip of Running that I missed? Or was something else teased too?
