You should listen to the whole record. There is some heartbreaking and personal moments where the vocal FX aren't as prevalent or even existent. Not saying that changes the whole album for you but there will be pieces you like more, I think.

still, as a part of a character creation, they are very well used.
Not every record has to be Fugazi Trag, jesus.

Listened once on the way in to work today. Initial thoughts: it might rank towards the bottom for me when it comes to all of her records, but it's still very good. The second half is better than the first, and I really like The Laughing Man. I'm sure I'll have more to say later and my opinions will almost certainly change over time.

Was finally able to sneak off to be alone for a bit and finish the album.
This thing is fantastic. Though, usually get closers are among the best tracks on the record and I'm not sure that's true here.
The final end run didn't quite hold up to everything that came before but that's certainly not any kind of deal breaker.
Somebody Like Me is an early favorite. But I'm in love with the whole thing. I hope it ages as well as the last record did. If it does then this will likely be my favorite STV album. But it's way too early for all that. I'm just excited!

I liked it more on the second listen than on the first, and I definitely think it really hits its stride after the first interlude track. The reason right now it seems to rank low in her catalog for me is because unlike every other SV album, there isn't a song on here that upon first listen I immediately think is one of her all time best songs.

Agreed. It's her most accessible record. It's a phenomenal record! I also rank it bottom half of the catalog, but that just shows how insanely good that catalog is!

I thought this was pretty good after one listen. I had to force myself not to press the skip button on a couple of the slower, spacier tracks (Live In The Dream being one if I remember correctly) but I might just not have had the attention span for those kinds of songs.
...At The Holiday Party is my favorite so far.

I'm not sure I'd say this record is more accessible than the last two. This actually feels like an unselfconscious step to back toward a less accessible sound --- or at least immediately accessible. It's less experimental and less angular, for sure.
