Yeah, I'm not the biggest beatles dude, but I wished I got one of those copies he was selling.

I held off on listening to To Pimp a Butterfly until I had the vinyl and man, I like it a lot. Happy to finally have a copy.

inputting the rest of my collection into Discogs and noticed a small electronic album that I bought for $6 sells for $100 on average

Just a heads up for anyone looking to get a dustcover for your turntable.

My Technics 1600 didn't come with a cover, and it was getting dust on it on a consistent basis. Not a ton, but enough to bug me. Original covers were near impossible to find, and some schmo was selling replicates on eBay for like $200 with shipping. So I just called the local custom plastics company in town, gave him the exact dimensions (from that same ebay listing), and they fabricated me a cover for $50. Fits perfectly.

Of course it doesn't have a place for hinges or anything, but I'd actually prefer to remove the cover altogether while playing a record.

Just an idea.

Thanks for that tip. I bet you could actually carefully screw on some hinges if anyone really cared to do so, but I agree... cover off completely when spinning.

Its a good idea if you dont have pets. Id leave the cover up but DJ house cat would go into spinback mode on my sweet sweet vinyl no doubt.

I have the Sigur Rios Takk repress, the Ty Rex reissue, and the EL VY album all coming on Black Friday None of them are Black Friday releases per se, that's just when they're coming in.

Just finally got a chance to spin that Hozier record. It's lovely. Not perfect, there are some uneven patches, but overall pretty great record.

I'm probably completely ignorant here... but can someone explain to me the appeal of listening to 45 singles? Is it just a collectibility thing? Or if there are non-album tracks? Or if you just want one song and not an entire album?

I know a lot of artists back in the day only released shit via 45s, so that makes complete sense to me. And some 45 versions of songs are alternate versions of LP versions of the same song. But I know some guys that are hardcore 45 listeners, and a lot of what they listen to is readily available in exactly the same mix on LPs.

I suppose it comes down to sitting there with friends, or by yourself, and having a very involved "mix tape" listening session. Maybe that's it, I can see that experience being appealing.

I have 45's for most of those one-off type hits that I love but don't really need to own the album, or some 80's classics that bring back a bit of childhood nostalgia. They sometimes get spun when I feel like just listening to a song or two, or when I feel like playing DJ (which I am the farthest thing from). I would also have a single if it contains a good B-side or if they are particularly collectible from my favourite bands (early Nirvana and Soundgarden, colored discs, picture sleeves).

Of course before the late 60's it was all about 45's so that's an entirely different story.
