That is so weird; I've been searching on Soulseek using a bunch of different spellings and names and album titles and I got nothing.

Beyonce's "Don't Hurt Yourself" is the best thing Jack White has been involved with since Get Behind Me Satan

I won't argue with this.

I feel like it's not saying all that much though

On a generic rock radio station (for example 107.7 in Seattle or say KROQ in Los Angeles) they play a very fair share of new music. However the stuff from the last 25 years doesn't feel "nostalgic" to me. It could have come out last year. However when you dip into the '80s, to me, it's a leap into another genre. Like "oh that is an '80s song" whereas something from '94 or '04 could be the same genre to me.
So these stations play these 15 year old songs and they don't feel out of place.

Just discovered Shovels and Rope and they might be my new favorite band.

I enjoy them when I hear them but find they don't have a lot of staying power with me. I rarely go back to revisit them.
Fun stuff though, and there ain't nought wrong with that.

Yeah, we'll have to see what kind of longevity they have. But man, the first impression was outstanding.

It feels like those who've heard it pretty much agree that Rihanna's ANTI is one of the better albums of the year. I love it. Does anyone have any opinions about her earlier stuff? I haven't really liked much aside from her two or three big singles. Are the albums worth checking out?

I have "Good Girl Gone Bad: Reloaded" and "Talk That Talk" and they're both total hits-plus-filler jobs, and from what I've heard of her other pre-"ANTI" records they're pretty much the same deal. "ANTI" is a major artistic leap forward, and an extremely satisfying case of an artist finally arriving at her full potential. However, I've always been a huge fan of her singles, and think a well-chosen best-of mix could go toe to toe with "ANTI" pretty confidently. "Disturbia" might be my favorite pop song of 2000-2010.

I love it -- a perfect blend of grit, soul, and robotic detachment. Try the song "Never Ending" to hear a somewhat different side of Rihanna -- all sweetness, with none of that sharp high-end "icepick to your ears," as I've heard her voice described on several occasions...

Perhaps it's a geographical thing, but it's also worth pointing out that she has had far more than two or three big singles; in fact, only The Beatles and Mariah Carey have had more number one singles, and Rihanna still has (presumably) a lot of career ahead of her. Some of Rihanna's are instances of her featuring on other artists' work, but by the same token, she had a lot of recognizable singles that charted but didn't hit number one.
