I don't see how being at something called a fantasy camp makes it any better, but if it does for others I can respect that.
When I think about all the things rock stars have put on their bodys ,and called clothing is wearing a Cubs uniform a big deal.

Yeah, Lady Gaga's bacon outfit was a bit more extreme.

Honestly, what else do you think they mean by "unique" in this instance? It's not that he's from the world of sports and they're from the world of music. The media has pushed the "Pearl Jam is friends with sports dudes!" angle ad nauseam since day one (Jack McDowell, Shawn Kemp, Dennis Rodman, Kelly Slater, Pete Sampras, Kerry Wood, Peter Gammons, Theo Epstein, etc.).
I think you're justified in being pissed off, harmless.
Yup

The black market.
Silly. There's no black people who listen to Pearl Jam

I'm not sure that other people having done sillier things makes wearing an entire Cubs uniform less silly. It just gives us yet another parallel between Ed and Richard Marx...
Actually, Sirens is a lot like Right Here Waiting, isn't it?

Eddie in Cubs gear is lame. 8 year olds don't even do that...

It's my fault that Sleeping By Myself is on the new album instead of Cold Confession, Let It Ride, and Of the Earth. Comments like mine keep us from having nice things. Without me it would have been a triple album that could only be described as Wish You Were Here mixed with Suburbs mixed with Sandinista mixed with Rust Never Sleeps, but funneled through the sound of No Code era Pearl Jam.
I for one would like to thank you for making sure this didn't happen

If I was a huge fan of a sports team and given the opportunity to wear an official uniform, you bet I would.
This is the same guy who spazzed out over some Wrigley sod. The only surprising part of that photo is that you can't see the bulge from his Excitement Boner

Guys, what if Cold Concession or Let It Ride were supposed to be on LB, but they were axed for Sleeping By Myself bc of that leak....

I think I would prefer sleeping by myself ( which I love) to let it ride (which I don't)

Did you switch up on them? I though at first you were more into let it ride then CC

I forget who said it, but LB was 11 songs and then BoB convinced them to add SBM. Don't think it replaced either of those.

Nope. I think cc is fantastic and let it ride is pretty unremarkable outside of some nice extended soloing

Cheers Lament.
It's the same old shtick time and again: rather than just an interviewer, he's a guy afflicted with a disease, who happens to be a "huge fan" who is having his life's treat, meeting PJ. The fact that he's an ex-football player and thus a sports celebrity is a footnote in this case. It's infantilisation. Mike is clumsy with his words, so I don't expect any different from him,
but I'm far too used to able-bodied people talking about how great it is to be around disabled people because we are so "inspiring". That's great, Mike, but hopefully he's cool to be around just because he is? I'm talking about portrayal, because the media will always give you a version of reality, not the whole thing. And this is a formulaic one I'm very used to. It's a charitable narrative but ultimately not a particularly respectful one.
You know, I think I can understand your viewpoint. Able-bodied people are often patronising to people that disabled. I've caught myself doing it before, and it feels terrible.
It's an easy habit to fall into, instead of just treating that person the same regardless of their disability. Isn't there a saying, something like 'see the person, not the disability?'. But, there is often this feeling of needing to be extra nice, and give special treatment, to someone with a disability. I think it's mainly because that person got dealt a shitty hand, and I feel bad for them.
