The Fly, All I Know and Violet are the ones I care the least about. I respect but can't really get into the AIC and Pumpkins songs. Criminal and Sober are good. Hold On, Corduroy and Find The River are songs I might have picked myself.

I think "Geek USA" was a really good choice. You can't go wrong with that album. Such massive, very wow.

I almost went with Geek USA several times. It's great.

1. Brett vs. Stip

Obviously I was going to vote for myself. I don't think I knew a single song on Brett's team. But there were some nice tracks on there. Definitely a different set of tastes behind that team


2. Iholdthepain vs. Theplatypus
Other than mayonaise there were no songs on platy's team I loved, but the whole list flowed really well, and I liked all the songs until the very end (that Belly song in particular was a nice surprise). I hold the pain had a few songs I really love, but there were also a few I just didn't like at all, and in the end it was a bit too inconsistent (sorry, but I hate the toadies)


3. Heathen vs. Abnorman
A few nice instrumentals on Heathen's team, some metal song representing a genre part of me still believes is some incredible joke, and an awesome leonard cohen song. But abnorman has a powerhouse team. I'll even excuse the oasis song

4. Kaius vs. Kneetunes
Kneetunes, but very close. Each of you has some stuff I really love


5. Theodore Bundy vs. Birds in Hell
Another really close one. Neither team is a favorite (I wish Bundy took the Cowboys song from paula cole--I really like that one). Bundy has Alive, and a few songs I kinda like. I knew almost nothing from BiH's team, but I discovered some fairly interesting stuff. He barely takes it

Disintegration was 80s I believe wasn't it? Love that album. Can't remember it if was 89 or 90.

I've taken to scoring all tracks this time around - no idea why, just felt like getting all scientific and shit.

Brett vs stip
Brett's team got extra votes for what I saw as a theme, but was way up and down for mine. I really disliked the Boredoms and NMH songs, but loved The Sea and Cake. I'm generally a Mogwai fan but prefer some of their otherstuff, same goes with Sigur Ros. On the positive side extra points for giving me a MBV song that I actually don't mind.

Stipper gets a bonus point off the bat for taking a PJ song with his first pick. From here Waits is a stand out and the Screaming Trees and REM songs are also great. Everything else though sits middle of the road for me. Still enough to get him up though.

Thip vs Platy
Thip got extra points for originality and some brave choices. I love Country Feedback and the Toadies and Angel got some points. Most everything else was pretty middle of the road for me, although an extra 1/2 point was awarded for Bill Hicks (Tool though got not a lot).

Platy's team was a joy to listen to start to end, and extra points were awarded for introducing me to a lot of great stuff I wasn't familiar with. Highlights for me were Eliot Smith and The Sundays, although Mazzy Star is always welcome and Ride, Spiritualized and Broken were all top notch. Great team here.

Theodore Bundy vs Birds in Hell
I've been making little comments against songs when I review them and Ted here had 2 songs where I'd simply written "Fuck off". That can't be good now, can it? Extra points for taking a PJ track with pick number 1 though, and also an extra half point for the incredibly annoying earwormability of the Paula Cole tune. On the plus side Bikini Kill and L7 were cool (and 'Pretend That We're Dead' was actually on my shortlist).

I went into listening to spenno's mix not expecting to like much of it, buy was actually pleasantly surprised. There's a degree of...coolness (?) that permeates the mix, and many songs have the shoegaze quality that I'm OK with (as distinct from the shoegaze quality that I'm not). And I get the distinct impression that, as LMS alluded to before, the more I listen to these songs the more I'd probably get into them. Not a fan of the Nirvana tune nor the Lilys, but almost everything else was above average. And again, bonus for getting me to check out much new shit.

Kaius vs Knee Tunes
Kaius' team was actually one that I thought was better on paper than when I went through and listened to it. I loved the QotSA and tracks by Blind Melon, The Pumpkins and Johnny Butler were all enjoyable, but I'm not a Tupac fan (I was disappointed when the intro sample of "That's Just the Way It Is" gave way to the song proper). Not a Tool fan but at least Stinkfist is a tune I can get into a bit, and the Cranberries were an enjoyable closer.

Knee Tunes gets an extra point for PJ up front and some quality selections in 'Nothing Compares', 'I Alone' and 'Heart Shaped Box'. I actually really enjoyed the Howling Maggie tune too, and Blues Traveller gets some extra respect. That Metallica song is a turkey though.

Heathen vs ABNorman
I've run out of time to listen to these 2 before votes close, I've gotta hit the hay. But I am pretty confident my vote wouldn't change regardless. I will listen tomorrow though as I'm actually genuinely interested in spinning Heathen's Sugar Pop Hits.

Off the bat ABNorman gets extra kudos points for his indispensable youtube playlists too - you, Sir, are a star.
