We may have our differences but I just noticed something interesting. The 5 songs on LB which I consider truly great, worthy of holding their own against any of the other songs in their catalog, are also the ones which have garnered the most votes in the RM poll.

Pendulum, Infallible, My Father's Son, Yellow Moon and Getaway.

These are all 5 star songs for me and while everyone might not think they're that good, it's refreshing to find that they are the most popular ones here. This reinfornces my belief that the truly great songs tend to appeal to a wide variety of listeners with differing tastes. Just an observation which prompted me to post.

Question for people who know more than me about music and production and what have you:

At the 3:23 mark in Lightning Bolt, what's that cloppy percussive sound that starts up and is present through the end of the song?

Somebody else altogether preferably. I hope their catalogue gets a proper "audiophile" treatment at some point. I don't need it to be remixed or anything i would just really appreciate if it sounded at least as good as a well mastered CD does, this is why i put audiophile in brackets. Nowadays anything that sounds average by 20 or so years ago standards is considered audiophile anyway. I'm not one of those audiophile freaks with equipment worth more than their homes but when you realise how good even a cd can sound you really wish your favourite music was available in that sound quality too. This doesn't even pertain to all of their catalogue to be honest.

My 2 cents.

I really REALLY like this album a lot, bordering on Love. A few years back I decided not to nit pick music realizing it's humans that make it so it won't be perfect. And You know what I found, I enjoy music much more this way. So it works for me, others feel different and that works for them. Also, I try not to compare music now to years ago. Try being the key word, it's hard not to but I do a good job at it.

One thing I do compare is how I feel towards the album and the release of Backspacer. With BS, I had to force myself to listen to it over and over again because I felt I had to being a lifelong PJ fan. With LB, I want to listen to it over and over again. I can't wait to get home from work to hear the stream. I think about it, sing the songs in my head. I'm dying to hear it next. Now I will say this, I've always loved slow to mid-tempo PJ WAY better then their hard rock song. I'd take Nothingman over Spin the Black Circle a million times over, as I never liked STBC. So, maybe that's why I connect to LB. I've grown soft in my age, so I get where they are coming from. I always wanted them to do an all acoustic-light electric studio album. I'd love for them to use a sitar even. How weird is that?

Anyway, listening to it now. I love it. This is my opinion and no one other's will change my mind. I won't try to change anyone's if they hate it. Different strokes for different folks. Opinions are like aholes as they say. Mine shouldn't matter to you as well. Just posting to post it. Read it, call me an idiot, punch me in the face, or sue me I like this record. It makes me happy.

I've managed to watch all of the interviews. At least i think i did. I think there are a couple of short clips not in the long versions, i'll have to check.

I think picking people they now for this lengthy interviews was a wise move. It makes them more interesting that getting people from the press asking the same boring questions and them giving the same answers all the time. It's nice to see them talk for this long for a change.

I was thinking if we could have a thread with the links to all the parts of this interviews in one place mostly because of the fragments not included in the long cuts. I don't see the 16 minute version Gleason interview mentioned on TSIS but i guess everybody is familiar with it.

No worries, I just wasn't sure what you meant. I thought you meant like a wood block or something, and there's one or two of those in "Infallible". The low toms layered over the outro in LB are really nice I think, and they help the song feel properly "epic" in the outro.

Yeah, I really like them, too, and it was a completely new sound to me when I heard them. I've been curious for weeks but kept forgetting to inquire.

Does anyone else have this ranked higher than Backspacer and S/T? It is better than Backspacer for me, and has an overall nicer sound than S/T, but I enjoy a lot of S/T songs way better live than on the album. Guess I'll wait and see how these songs hold up in concert.

For me it's miles better than both, yes. Anything else? I highly doubt it.
