Can anyone recommend some NY I probably haven't heard for my ride to daycare pickup today?
What I've heard: all the really good stuff, and also Life and Re Ac Tor which I own on vinyl
What I haven't heard: the rest.

Thanks y'all.
Went with Le Noise on the way there (sans kiddo) and we grooved to Chrome Dreams 2 on the way home.
Caught trags post after the fact.
I am mostly weak on his 21st century output, it seems. Though Silver and Gold is one of my favorites and I bought in on the Psychedelic Pill/Americana era. There is a small handful of gaps in the '70s and '80s too.

American Stars & Bars is probably my favorite NY album.

What makes it your favorite? There are so many albums and so much going on, it would be very hard for me to pick one that really hits it all for me.
For the record, Chrome Dreams 2 was good. I liked it though I didn't have time to make it through all the way before we got home. The instrumentation was interesting, sounded fresh for modern era Neil. I thought Ordinary People was a great song... Until it refused to end. I don't mind long NY tracks with Crazy Horse, but this one just felt repetitive after a while. Lots of variety after that though. Will happily listen again but may skip Ordinary People.
Le Noise was exactly what I expected. Scratched an itch, but it's probably going to be a once in a while Neil record for me. Glad I finally heard it.
Trag, I'll try your bolded albums next, starting with Stars and Bars.

Really now? I thought it was good but not top tier. A few standouts, for sure. The opener, Shining Light, and Spirit Road did it for me. May have to listen more. You and I always have pretty similar tastes.

yeah...i got it as a present and it was a moment were i drifted from Young. I wasnt interested on his then recent output and i was worried Crazy Horse was in the past for him
And damn it really knock me.
Ordinary People, The Believer, The Way, Shining Light, Dirty Old Man...they are all classics to me.

re: Chrome Dreams II, wikipedia says...
The album name references Chrome Dreams, a legendary Neil Young album from 1977 that had originally been scheduled for release but was shelved in favor of American Stars 'N Bars.
chew on that.

Side 1 is Neil's best country-rock with Linda Ronsdadt and Nicolette Larson on backing vocals, recorded live in a barn.
Side 2 is a hodge-podge of drug influenced and weird tracks, and it blows my mind.
Two super-strong EP's in one.

Oh damn. Kind of a crime I've overlooked this one, based on your description. Feels like the kind of weird Neil music that I love.
