this is going to be an expensive album to listen to.
interesting
Modern-day music producers have access to some very sophisticated digital recording equipment, that lets them mix music from dozens of separate channels (also called tracks). However, no matter how many channels they start with, if they’re creating a stereo recording, these multiple channels must be combined eventually into just two channels: A left and a right, which corresponds to the two speakers in a stereo environment. Dolby Atmos Music, on the other hand, is a native surround sound technology, with support for up to 128 channels, and up to 34 separate speakers in a home theater, including speakers that can direct sound down toward the listener from the ceiling.

i'm gonna get 34 cd players, place them around the room, and play Gigatron at the same time!

then queue them all up to the 'boys dicks' line and then press 'play' in a staggered schedule so as to hear it over and over and over

I was actually thinking that if some enterprising atmos-having person could also procure a good binaural setup they could record it and then the rest of us plebs would have a pseudo-surround way to listen to that mix.

If this ATMOS production is what I think it could be, I’m hoping it might be the impetus for the band to start up the box sets again starting with no code. it’s not that I think the run of no code through riot act desperately needs a remix, Josh Evans going through the tapes with ATMOS would definitely excite me.
I’m still convinced there is things from all these sessions we have not heard , couple that with an ATMOS take on the album and they could be a fantastic edition to the lacklustre previous box sets.
Does the original production have to be recorded using ATMOS as with Gigaton, it can it be applied in a remix/remaster?

as long as the stems/multitracks are available I don't see why not.

I find it a little odd when people put Ed on a pedestal above the rest of the band.
