Music = sound
Sound = bad
It’s like saying a movie is good as long as it’s a good story and you can understand it

The signs all point to a great album…endless production talks…why did they did this and not that in that particular song (Binaural comes to mind).
ST dry production was a deliberate choice after the Riot Act take. (same producer)
All different flavours…some people like this and not that….
I really just want good songs and not Olés, and that seems, for now at least, what we will get.

I knew it, I just knew you guys could have the same conversation again, again, if you dedicated yourselves to it and tried hard enough

I don’t care who didn’t believe in you. I did. Remember that.

a movie is primarily about a good story; good sound design elevates a movie but it's not... the movie, unless that movie is somewhat experimental

That is an extremely oversimplification of things…are you saying a movie has to look good to be a good movie, taking the “art” part of it all out? if so in what way?

Not necessarily! The history of cinema is full of great movies where story isn't the main point

As in someone can make a terrible movie out from a good script or a book

right but the rest of my quote suggested that movies where sound design are the / a main point tend to be somewhat experimental movies (Skinamarink, The Outwaters, The Zone of Interest)

I love movies with barely any narrative, for what it's worth

Never said they did. Used my wife's opinion of the audio quality of DM to make a point in response to Aunt_Claire's take that you somehow need an ego-boost or have a need to validate some special knowledge if you bring up audio production. It's silly. My wife doesn't even know who Andrew Watt is.

Exactly…any art form (or entertainment) is made to invoque reaction, emotion, thought…etc…etc…
A ugly image, a dissonant story, Ed cracked vocal take on “The End” is a choice to invoque something… these things could lead to a number of interesting conversations on these subjects…instead it seems people are more interested in looking at this from the Excel perspective.

absolutely they can, but for me that'll be about 100 other factors before sound design

I still bitch about Avocado’s production on here even though it’s one of my favorite albums of theirs. Why can’t we talk about questionable production of other albums?

There are things that are objectively true about this recording, the way its mastered, mixed. Trag is right on many accounts because he is actually very knowledgable about this stuff.
It is completely fucking subjective if you enjoy it.
both are fine.
People stop getting pissy about it. Both sides can discuss these things and please dont get offended.
K thanks bye.
The production sucks. Im pumped for the album!
