Should I have googled before posting?

Who has time for research? Post away and damn the consequences I say! Free flowing words, stream of consciousness stuff on a message board, the only way to go. Who the hell has time to formulate a considered position and reasonable, thought out argument these days anyway?

I refuse to fact check myself and will die on my Bill Belichick hill!

Higgs, some people will try to tell you Belichick is bad because they need a boogeyman.

Let the stream of consciousness flow.

The medal of freedom is just some pointless means to jerk off sports figures with. It's beyond stupid. Can't believe more people don't decline it.

As a heuristic, basically every sportsguy is bad.

This machine runs itself.
Well yeah the president doesn’t actually do anything. Duh.

Yes but they’d lose senate seats in 2022.
I have full faith that Republican voters could forget impeachment after two years of a Biden/Harris administration, a Pelosi house, and a dem controlled senate. They'll be fine in 2022. With impeachment, they might even pick up a voter or two (like me.)
Why would impeachment make you more likely to vote Republican in 2022?
If the future nominee is sitting on congress right now, and that nominee voted to impeach, it would go a long way in showing character and reason. I'd vote for that if I also believed in a fair amount of this politician's platform. This mind exercise also assumes a lot of things about what will happen in this country with two years of a dem controlled federal government, which I'd weigh with this politician's platform.

In other words, can you show me a politician in 2022 who can run on a limited federal government, a fair but common sense response to what I anticipate to be an escalating culture war, AND it turns out they did the right thing at this weird moment in history and voted to impeach? Sign me up.
That makes sense. I totally misunderstood your first post.

The Republican Party will split. Trump and his extreme right Neanderthals will form a new party due to the Republican Party turning their back on Trump. Unless Trump is unable to hold public office again.

With the current electoral system they can't afford to split

Trump warns impeachment for Capitol riot is ‘tremendous danger’ to U.S.
https://www.cnbc.com/2021/01/12/trump-w ... -riot.html

 What the living fuck does an insurrectionist know about what's dangerous to the US?

“People thought what I said was totally appropriate,”

“This impeachment is causing tremendous anger, and you’re doing it, and it’s really a terrible thing that they’re doing. For Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer to continue on this path, I think it’s causing tremendous danger to our country, and it’s causing tremendous anger,”

“And it causes a lot of problems and a lot of danger. Big mistake. They shouldn’t be doing it, but there’s always a counter move when they do that. I’ve never seen such anger as I see right now and that’s a terrible thing.”

I assume he's talking about districting and apportionment, particularly in the house. The MAGA narrative is the political lifeblood of many rural voting districts now, and there's no short term future where a more conventionally conservative Republican has any shot at winning a seat in those sorts of districts.
