Too much precision and processing for "sounds like Pearl Jam" to my ears. But Backspacer had that too, and while I don't adore it it had some moments.

This review shakes things up a bit about the songs we haven't heard.

sounds like he wishes the record had more fast/aggressive material.
Interesting that he would describe riot act as incendiary. We all hear this stuff in such different ways.

FWIW I was trying to be reassuring to people who haven't heard it.
The only song I really like is getaway, and even then I wish it was more live sounding and the lyrics are only ok.
Mym, swallowed whole and lb you'll like if you like those
types of songs ('punky' 'into the wild' 'anthem by numbers(though people say thus about ATW and its better than that imo), I think. And I think ltrp and sirens suck balls but plenty of people like em.
Now I sound like I'm shitting on everything, but I really do feel better about it than I did a while ago.
I've kind of decided that yellow moon is gonna sound like an off he goes, Neil young kinda thing with some awesome guitar. Someone leak it so I know whether I'm right or not.
MFS sounds more and more awesome the more we hear about it. My daddy was a psychopath...It is sure to disappoint. Pendulum sounds like some thing I should really love, so I'm worried about that too.

Wait
I haven't been paying attention to the track list really. Is this yet another "aggressive side / mellowed side" record?????

Yeah, except the aggressive side is just three songs long. I guess you might be able to call Infallible "aggressive", we'll see.

It also looks like he sees room for that in the next album.

kinda, yeah.
1-6
Fast, fast, fast, slow (but big sounding), medium/fast, medium/heavy
6-12
Slow/brooding, fast, fast, slow (or however we want to clasify sleeping by myself), slow/mid tempo (conflicting reports),slow
that's never really bothered me as a tracklisting, since it starts out aggressive and then slowly winds you down. That makes sense. The only place it was ever really a problem was S/T, and part of that was because the fast songs were pretty relentless, harsh, and side 2 was significantly weaker.

PJ's consistent way of tracking albums never hugely bothered me (except on S/T as Stip says) but it is starting to feel like someone just said "How do we track this thing?" and the reply was "Do the usual."

"The surprising Chicago blues..."

Having said that, we have a huge variety of different kinds of songs, so I hope that counteracts the sameness and still gives a varied and interesting listen.

I really curious about the 2nd bass in it, I assumed stone would be playing it, but Jeff and stone mentioned stones guitar playing, so who will be playing the 2nd bass
It could still be Stone.
You know, through the
magic of the studio.
True, and it could be Jeff playing both, so then who will play what live? I think that was more of what I was picturing when i was thinking about it, and i assumed stone because of him and Jeff switching guitars for smile

So is number 6 medium/heavy or slow/brooding?
