Yes. Please correct me if I’m wrong but most “male” leagues are actually defined as “open” leagues, meaning any person good enough to qualify can participate. There has been at least one female player who was drafted to the NBA though I don’t think she ever played in an official game.
Still, female leagues were created for a reason.
Because the boys wouldn’t let them play
Yes they would.

It undermines your point when you're so intentionally hateful.
Was this directed at me?

It's more of a general question. It's just something I see constantly - conservatives seem to delight in doing it for some reason.

You did provide a good example, though.

I don’t believe that males should play in female sports leagues.

Your last sentence would actually be functionally more descriptive if you'd said "trans women" rather than "males"

You're also more likely to generate a good conversation (your stated goal) by being respectful.

Can we no longer define people in terms of male or female? Also let’s try to reply to people directly based on what has been posted here on this site and not all the stuff we read elsewhere. I constantly have to remind myself of this.

In a discussion about transgender women playing sports (in a thread about transgender rights) it helps to be as descriptive as possible. It's not really a big burden - it's 4 descriptors instead of 2 and being respectful is more likely to actually generate conversation.

Calling trans women "men" is misgendering. Intentionally misgendering a person is generally considered bigotry, and fully unnecessary in the debate about trans women's place in sports.

The news reports I posted earlier accurately describe the player in question as a transgender woman. A transgender woman by definition is a male. I used the correct terminology.

A transgender woman is a woman. Since gender assigned at birth is implied in the term, the only reason to go out of your way to label her "male" is to be hateful.

While I agree there is no need to intentionally misgender someone, the idea that ‘gender assigned at birth’ is ‘implied in the term’ is not universally understood or accepted and like 99% of the population had never heard it before like 5 years ago. It’s certainly not a basis to accuse someone of hateful conduct given the fluid movement between the terms sex and gender that occurs in these threads

Is a transgender woman male or female?
