all that will happen when we get the final product (flac, hifi stream etc) is it will be come more apparent how bad that snare sounds to those of us who hate that sound.

I still bitch about Avocado’s production on here even though it’s one of my favorite albums of theirs. Why can’t we talk about questionable production of other albums?
I thought this was America

McP is RM's anthropologist. His insights are essential for our understanding of ourselves.

Regardless on what the the finished product ends up sounding like.
People in here have already made up their mind. They already hate it.

This is fun, but if it wasn't all squeezing thru the middle it'd be better.

"there are things that are objectively true about this recording"

yes there are, but "it sucks" is not foundational to them

I really like what they're doing on Running. Invigorating.

It sounds like total shit.

Here’s a concept nobody has yet posited (or I’ve been too out of the loop to catch it with a 3 week old). But either way….

I’ve never thought of record production as a monolith. For example, There are moments on ST where I feel it’s perfect (last few minutes of inside job), and others where it weakens an otherwise strong track (Marker). I could even break this down to much smaller component parts, each of which could be anywhere from brilliant to downright awful. Point is: to me it seems odd, all this hand wringing from one song and a 30 second twitter clip of another.

So, I’ll wait to hear DM in full until I judge for good. Let’s put it this way, I bet there will be moments on this record where even Trag says to himself: “well gosh wottman, that just sounds delightful”.

If I’m wrong, then so be it.

Is there a non-zero chance that the vinyl mix sounds noticeably better than the mixes for digital media?
