I just listened to St. Paul for the first time. I don't think I've listened to any of those shows where they opened for Tom Petty. 6/26/06 is so ON.

So, listening to the Gorge '05 right now, and the whole thing throughout the show when Ed has the crowd chant "Hello, Tom; come down, Tom" to Tom Petty is a little weird. Like, did he think Tom Petty was going to come join them on stage but he never did?

7/13/06 - Santa Barbara

What a trip down memory lane. This show was in the middle of our summer tour. We were seeing Widespread Panic and Pearl Jam all over the west coast and then a bit back east. To be in Santa Barbara, a place I never even thought about going to, at the same arena where Pearl Jam had played such a special show 3 years before, was dreamlike. We were bumping into friends we made along the tour and from the year before in Canada. We got to talk to Jack Irons before this one too!

This show isn't as tight as San Diego or San Francisco III, but to get an acoustic set to start, with Low Light, Hard to Imagine and Waiting on a Friend was killer. It's great to go back and listen. I'm reminded just how great the S/T songs were live. Clearly Pearl Jam felt confident with them too. What a tour.

You should’ve invited Ruddo to a few of those Panic shows. Big fan.

A couple notes of Romanza before Better Man, just a great sounding boot.

From the 2017 issue of Deep Magazine. In depth history of the bootleg recording/mixing process. I have no idea if this has been posted before but here you go if you are so inclined. Fun information in there and probably even better for recording dorks!

nice! still think they could find a way to release even an incomplete show pre-2000, and we'd all throw money at them. they're just sitting on these shows.

also, i'd really like to know what they were doing from '94-'97 in terms of recording the shows. they skipped those eras in that article.

I think they were doing the exact same thing as 1993 throughout that period, ad hoc recordings off the board via ADAT.
