It would be appropriate, seeing how it will be their 10th album.

I'm not saying it doesn't have deeper meaning... but speaking from a designer standpoint, that X technique with letters in each quadrant is a trendy thing going around right now. It's probably just a random design for that hat.

I don't have hopes, because I have no idea what I'm expecting.

It would be nice if it was better than S/T and Backpacer. Even slightly better. That'll do at this point. But I have no high expectations in terms of songs. They haven't written a song I could seriously latch onto as being important to me since, well, Riot Act really.

I'm pretty much expecting not to like it, based on the last 2 and a half albums and ed's current voice. However i really want to like it, so i wish something would hurry up and leak and blow my mind already.

Having seen ed play with qotsa in South America, I'm left wondering, do pj listen to qotsa or soundgardens records and go ok, we have to top that!

They obviously see them as contemporaries but I wonder if they listen to them or are influenced by them, either creatively or competitively?

with Soundgarden i would think yes...Mike has been in the studio with them, played live with them...he even hinted that Matt was a beast with SG live.

So I'm not surprised he's making them raise their eyebrows when he goes and kicks ass with another band. It's kind of like losing your wife to another guy and finding out that he blows her mind in a way you never could.
