Reason being: we don't have any evidence that resurrection is among the powers that the Raven/the Children have. Sure, it's possible that some of the Children's ancient magic can do that, but I think it's a stretch--and it'd be cheap--to just suddenly give them that power. One could argue that a similar thing happened when we learned about Valyrian steel's powers last season, but that was so heat-of-the-moment and fucking badass that I'll make an exception.

If it's not Melisandre or another Red Priest/ess that brings Jon back, the other two possibilities are: they go to burn his body (as they usually do at the wall) and he rises from the ashes, a la Dany in Season 1; or The Night's King does something--it's a stretch because we've only seen him turn people into wights, but besides the red clergy, no one else has been shown to have that power.

We have a strict no talking rule during the show. It is split right down the middle in terms of people who have read the books and who hasn't.

I really hate this whole "split the final season into two seasons" trend. Just fucking make one final 13 episode season and put it to bed.

I think I read somewhere that the production team is maxed out at doing 10 episode seasons, and this isn't a case of milking it like Breaking Bad.

Yes, I think the "splitting" of the seasons to two 7 or 8 episode seasons is for their production sanity more than anything and not a creative issue.

Episode 1 leaked last night, be careful of spoilers if you're trying to avoid them. Also be wary of reading "theories" or "predictions" from shady sites, as many people will use that as a way to reveal plot details ahead of time (it happened a few years ago when there was a widely-distributed "theory" article about Joffrey's death).

Then maybe they don't need 13 hours to finish the story. Cut some shit and make it 10. Or make three or four episodes 70 or 75 minutes. Either way, it smells funny to me. HBO has gone on record saying the show can and should keep going. Top brass wants this thing to be 20 seasons, as much as George wants to write, as much as George wants to show, these tales can go on and on and on, etc. Dan & Dave have long said, "nah, bro, we're done after seven years."

This screams of "compromise." They get to keep the total episode number low so there isn't too much unnecessary filler and HBO gets to milk their cash cow for 2 more years instead of one.
