Re: Boston Red Sox Thread
Does anyone else think this debate over who will be out of the rotation when Buchholz comes back is hilarious? First of all, it is far from a given that Buchholz will come back, his vagina may start acting up again this month. Secondly, the odds of them going the next month without a starting pitcher going down are slim to none.

Re: Boston Red Sox Thread
Since I brought up Buchholz, I want the Sox to explore trading him this offseason. If he comes back and finishes the year out as he started it, his value would be pretty high and I say cash in now. If this guy is acting like this on his rookie deal, what the hell is he going to be like once he gets paid?

Agree. And I say that as someone who LOVES his stuff. I just hate his fickle vagina.
I'm still pissed that Wil Myers isn't on this team.

i agree on clay, he's very annoying and if he comes back it'll probably be to replace somebody that's just been injured. also, with the giants signing ted lilly today should i continue to hope that tim lincecum could join the red sox?

Re: Boston Red Sox Thread
I think this 2 months missed for an injury that even the preeminent sports doctor in the world told him isnt there was the final straw for me with Buchholz. He's got great stuff and can be an excellent pitcher when he musters enough courage to play, but we need to rid this team of the DL culture that emerged in the final years of the Francona era. Putting starting pitchers who arent hurt on the DL to "get some rest," JD Drew deciding every August that he was going to chillax until the playoffs start, people getting elective Tommy John surgery, it needs to stop. For better or worse, Buchholz has become the poster child for that.

Trading Clay? Never thought about that. It's interesting. I think you only do it if you can fill his spot via a different trade or free agency.
I hear ya on his va gee gee, but if he comes back and is lights out for the rest of the year....who knows?

i like the addition of peavy. he reminds me of the good aspects of schilling's personality. i hope he holds up and maybe gets lester & buchholz to push themselves to be better. also, drake britton & ruby de la rosa are a pretty solid 1-2 combo.Coach wrote:Trading Clay? He's a young pitcher who's been dominant --- at times --- playing in Boston, which we all know is not for everybody. So, he seems to be a valuable piece.

I'm not advocating giving him away, but I'd at least look at what kind of return he would bring.Coach wrote:Agreed....however:numbers wrote:If he comes back and is lights out his trade value is a lot higher.Coach wrote:Trading Clay? is he even "showing he can play in boston?" i think he'd be great in a place where he wouldn't be under a microscope.numbers wrote:I'm not advocating giving him away, but I'd at least look at what kind of return he would bring.Coach wrote:Agreed....however:numbers wrote:If he comes back and is lights out his trade value is a lot higher.Coach wrote:Trading Clay? I'd be more comfortable using De La Rosa than Valverde.elliseamos wrote:is Jose Valverde worth a flyer?

If you trade him, yeah, I think there's a decent chance that he's probably lights out on another team, especially if that team is not in the AL East.elliseamos wrote:is he even "showing he can play in boston?" i think he'd be great in a place where he wouldn't be under a microscope.numbers wrote:I'm not advocating giving him away, but I'd at least look at what kind of return he would bring.Coach wrote:Agreed....however:numbers wrote:If he comes back and is lights out his trade value is a lot higher.Coach wrote:Trading Clay?
