yeah, Belwas was a colorful enough character that I would've liked seeing in this show

I thought that episode had some excellent scenes; I especially liked Tywin's conversations with both Tommen and Oberyn. The first one reminded me of Varys's comments about how he serves "the realm," and how that makes him everything else negotiable. Tywin only serves his name and his legacy, and since Joffrey isn't any good for that anymore, he goes all in on Tommen while Joff's body is probably still warm.

....sucks we've only got 7 (maybe 6?) episodes left of him.

Well, that was pretty fucking wild. I had a feeling that we'd see some material that hadn't shown up in the books yet eventually, but not so soon.

I'm not sure how i feel about it, i'm more a fan of the stories and characters than the fantasy elements and i've particularly never really cared much for the white walkers storyline. Obviously, introducing that scene they're probably going to be a huge part of the story's conclusion.

Likewise.

Btw, what was so different from the book to the show last night? I read the book that details most of this season (SoS?) and I really didn't notice what you guys are talking about. However, I forget about half of every book I read, especially these voluminous books.

The last time we saw an Other (White Walker) in the text was when Sam killed one; they've been mentioned in passing since then, but really they've retreated from the text completely. We've never seen them in their "natural habitat" because there's no way one of the POV characters could have seen something like this. The only way it could've shown up would have been in a prologue/epilogue, and it definitely hasn't.

Got it. And thanks. The entire scene was kind of odd. I hate when shows F with babies anyway.
As if crucifying 163 kids wasn't enough. Heh.

It's not in the books, but since Locke is based on Vargo Hoat I'll bring it up here. I can't quite figure out how/why/what Locke got the wall and what his purpose is. did I forget something from previous episodes?

Also as far as I can remember, Sam never told Jon he ran into Bran beyond the Wall nor was Bran and Co. captured by the mutineers at Crasters. Maybe someone with a better memory can help me there?

Bolton sent him up there to kill any Starks he can lay his hands on. Just can't remember if the Bastard went with him...

Did Reek actually tell the Bastard about Bran and Rickon in the books?

Bran + Co. most definitely didn't run into the rebels at Caster's in the books; they ran into some wights along the way, so maybe they're just replacing that with this diversion. There's no way Bran is going to be there when Jon arrives, if he every does. Something I haven't seen anyone mention is that this apparently explains why Ghost was missing for a while in the books. Maybe Jon and the rangers run into Mance's army along the way and have to turn back? And Mance slaughters the rebelling Watchers at Caster's, and this allows Bran and Co. to get away?

Waiting to judge the Bran at Craster's thing til I where it's going, but I don't have any issue with the White Walker scene.

I was hoping for some kinda reveal, but as it stands, I don't think it was book spoiler-y or horribly out of canon like some people seem to think. There was a little cheese added, by the "Craster's last son" thing, but that sorta thing surely happened before. There's just never been a POV to cover it.

-sam never told jon about his meeting with bran

-bran & co. never met those guys @ craster's place

-that baby white walker scene never happened

to Simple Torture in the show thread: Margaery gave Tommen Ser Pounce in the books, but in the show she only gave him blueballs

Ah! I seem to have forgotten that. I'm thinking it's these midnight liaisons with Tommen that Cersei is going to find out about and try to get Margery in trouble for, as they haven't been playing up other infidelities too too much so far.

Really hope they put in the bit where Jamie comes clean that Tyrion's wife Tysha really wasn't a whore before he releases him. I really want to hear Tyrion's refrain of Tywin's last words "wherever whores go"
