My favorite song on the album and one of their best album openers for sure. It's not straight forward like all of the others openers and still maintains its momentum.

Ed finally got the verse/chorus/guitar interlude/chorus/second verse song structure right after some misfires with Unthought Known and Lightning Bolt.

Those songs are trying to be something else, I think

Plus Lightning Bolt is excellent.

The prechorus to this is fantastic. The "all in the delivery" part.

When the actual chorus drops, it elevates it even higher.

I love the song Lightning Bolt among my catalogue favourites, although the album version is really limp.

Who Ever Said blows it out of the water. I don't think I'll ever even be able to listen to the recorded version of LB again.

This album is a Lightning Bolt killer (and I even like a lot of Lightning Bolt). This song is the manifesto for Gigaton.

Lightning Bolt succeeds despite the structure, if that makes sense. It serves the song in this one.

Like this from 2:30 onwards. It's not a perfect song but I'll take this, mistakes and all, over the sterile openers from the last 2 albums.

You can't remix cat poop into a ribeye

The way Ed enunciates “satisfaction” feels like a nod to Devo’s “I can’t get no satisfaction”

I don’t disagree, but I like the juxtaposition. From melodic and a sense of desperate questioning to a sudden, harsh statement.
It's an interesting juxtaposition I guess but I wish it occupied the sonic space on the beginning of the chorus lines a bit more

Okay, I love this song, too. It's amazing (at least for me) what writing about a song does for my appreciation for it.
