It's Phil Collins-y plus slightly Springsteen-ish with a dash of Pink Floyd in the instumentals.
I like it a lot.
Sounds very grown up. Can't rock flannels to this one, this is serious shit now.

I like this song but Eddie trying to squeeze his lyrics into the song so awkwardly is almost ruining it for me. Does Eddie not care at all anymore if his lyrics fit the melody at all? Or is this a stylistic choice? (I can't imagine that) It seems like Eddie writes lyrics for a song and then refuses to alter them at all and just forcibly tries to make them work no matter how weird it sounds. The amount of syllables need to be reduced by 20% or 30%. It sounds kind of amateurish. He used to be so good at this.

it's a stylistic choice to an extent, it's just that other artists have a better sense of rhythm for the purpose (e.g. Alanis Morissette); still, I love the song, flaws and all

I enjoy it a lot apart from that glaring flaw. It's just frustating as hell to me because the things I dislike are not born from ineptitude but weird choices. The tiniest adjustments would increase my enjoyment of this song immensely.

Yea but I love the phrasing and the melody. I don’t hear what you guys are fussing about at all. I love how it juxtaposes against the simple low key background of the instrumentation. It all just floats along. It’s so beautiful

Imagine it will be tough for the band to play this live similar to the studio version, since it was made out of 4-5 different versions.

yeah, I think it's excellent work by Eddie. I loved it from the beginning. It's overstuffed, but he never loses control over it - Complicated thoughts tumbling out of him. He's gotten very good at this sort of delivery over the last three records (Johnny Guitar is probably the first example)

Yep, I also like Superblood Wolfmoon. Maybe it works better for me in energetic/frenetic songs.
