Ed gets most of the shit on this board, but I can totally see Jeff being an ass/recluse at times. And I love Jeff!
This type of format is way better than a traditional, magazine/internet article. But yeah, one is such a tease.joostone wrote:Si, this was still the only interview/press the band did during the release of Gigaton?? And they mostly talked about sports....
Damn. I know those guys dont like press, but come one... I'm kinda looking forward to read some interviews.
I bet they had planned to do SNL in March. To share Quick Escape for the first time that waytheplatypus wrote:Also there's a worldwide pandemic thing going on, that probably threw a wrench into a few of their plans

Ao who would go with - current player Mookie comparison.verb_to_trust wrote:Mookie was so much better of a player than Pat Bev. It's a dumb and lazy comparison.Bammer wrote:I would have bet my life savings on Simmons making the current-day Mookie Blaylock comparison to Patrick Beverley.
The reason the band has lasted 30 years is directly related to Ed *not* being a self-centered d-bag. With the success they had (and his role in it), it would have been very easy for him to view himself as being above the other members of the band. He actually views all of the main guys as being equal to him, though.Monkey_Driven wrote:Ed gets most of the shit on this board, but I can totally see Jeff being an ass/recluse at times. mookie was a bad shooter, good passer, and great perimeter defender who led the league in steals for two seasons. he averaged 2.3 spg over a 13 year career. that's amazing. it's really hard to find a comp for that in today's NBA.Bammer wrote:Ao who would go with - current player Mookie comparison.verb_to_trust wrote:Mookie was so much better of a player than Pat Bev. I’ll be honest I really don’t recall watching him play. For some reason a name that pops into my head is Eric Bledsoe.
The scrappiness and perimeter defense is where it makes sense to me, though, as you say, it's obviously not a like-for-like perfect fit.evenslow wrote:mookie was a bad shooter, good passer, and great perimeter defender who led the league in steals for two seasons. he averaged 2.3 spg over a 13 year career. that's amazing. it's really hard to find a comp for that in today's NBA.Bammer wrote:Ao who would go with - current player Mookie comparison.verb_to_trust wrote:Mookie was so much better of a player than Pat Bev. he's definitely better than beverley but i can see where the comparison is made.
So the Beverley comparison is a good one, Simmons is right, Verb is wrong. Got it.oneway23 wrote:The scrappiness and perimeter defense is where it makes sense to me, though, as you say, it's obviously not a like-for-like perfect fit.evenslow wrote:mookie was a bad shooter, good passer, and great perimeter defender who led the league in steals for two seasons. he averaged 2.3 spg over a 13 year career. that's amazing. it's really hard to find a comp for that in today's NBA.Bammer wrote:Ao who would go with - current player Mookie comparison.verb_to_trust wrote:Mookie was so much better of a player than Pat Bev. That steal avg over the span of Mookie's career is a damn impressive stat, hand-checking notwithstanding.
Thought that was fair, unless, as Verb says, I've made a dumb and/or lazy comparison (which is entirely possible) ...It's not like Simmons said Harden, who is an absolute matador...I enjoyed watching Mookie more as a player, but, that's neither here nor there, though, I admittedly find the NBA to be a zombie league these days compared to generations past, so, mine isn't the most objective of responses, either.Bammer wrote:So the Beverley comparison is a good one, Simmons is right, Verb is wrong.
