They explained pretty clearly you’re going to get backstory and where he’s been in the mean time after events in ROTJ. I think you’re all jumping the gun a little early with the criticism.
That episode was clearly setting up what’s to come with dealing with the crime lords and hutts of it all. It’s only the second episode. Settle down.
And there’s been very little in the way of backstory. Just the occasional shot of little kid Fett making a ponderous face. His mystery up until the time we “met” him in Empire is still intact other than what Lucas had already revealed.
Well, this is all "backstory" about how he got out of the Sarlaac pit, right? I never wanted that, but I knew what I was getting into when they announced this show.

That being said, all of this is pretty awesome Star Wars. That train scene is as good as anything Disney has put out.

Yes, technology-wise this show and Mandalorian have been amazing in terms of the tech they've used for a "tv" show. Even some of the cinematography is top-notch. The tusken raiders learning to ride speeder bikes and the whole train thing was epic. I hope they can start working on some of the secondary characters. I know with a show you'll have a bit of filler, but ugh, that mayor's assistant just looks and acts like an actor dressed up as a twi'lek.

I'm against boba fett being alive, but if anyone could escape the sarlacc, it would be him.

I mean, it didn't appear to be very hard for him to escape the sarlacc. Any old weapon would seem to do.

Interesting stuff about that dive bar where boba took the speeders from those guys:

I’m just watching it again. This is Fucking bad ass boba. He goes and takes out the bastards. Then comes back to the tribe and takes out the train bastards. It’s amazing.
Then he just has a drink in the bar and walks out.
This is a beautiful episode. Maori culture and native culture anywhere included.
This is Star Wars. This is what it’s about.

Just watched 1 and 2. I dunno, I thought they were great. I love all Jon F. writing. I hated all the new Star Wars movies and even the 3 Lucas prequals. This and Mandalorian A+ to me.

I expected bad w/ a 58 Metacritic but critics crazy. Good action, writing, pace.

Go watch the first two episodes of sopranos or the wire and come back and call them ‘light’

Yeah Cos storytelling starts at the end and puts everything up front.

I'm liking this - I'm loving Morrison's take on Bobba and the little things like how he handles the gaffi stick like a taiaha

Dime, not every episode has to be sheer perfection and it’s ok. You don’t have to defend every episode. This is good but not near the depth of the mandolorian. Fennec is just there to spout one liners and the budget for costumes, especially in the city/cantina is obviously not as high as for other shows

I made an off-hand remark to a SW uberfan co-worker inquiring about the "aldi brand-looking han solo" in this scene and got basically this article in my ear for about twenty minutes.

Glad someone here is providing that info as well. It's a cool little Easter egg.

I thought the first two episodes were excellent.

My only disappointment is they finished to early and I’m craving more.

The rancor punk, The Mayor, the twins and the scariest looking wookie ever to start the show what more could you want.

I love all the backstories and I think we will see more Sarlacc pit related flashbacks thru out the series.

I found episode 3 mostly tedious. The writing is mediocre and that 4mph speeder chase was an embarrassment. I can’t believe ILM considers that up to their standards. Of course, they thought the abominable Luke face effects in Mando were okay, too, so who knows where their standard of quality sits today.

I assume that B’Omarr Monk shot was intentionally made to look like stop motion because…it’s supposed to remind us of 1983 vfx, I guess?

I think the overall tone is too light. They’ve gotta improve the casting of supporting actors. Mando has the same problem. They seem to be giving their show biz friends these roles instead of getting the best actor for the role.

The Black Krsstststststststsan fight was good.

Oof. That “teen gang” was prequel-level cheese

On this week's thrilling episode, Boba Fett hires the hoverboard goons from Back to the Future II.

Mediocre episode. On level with the first. The teen gang felt all wrong.
