In all honesty every mix you make for someone else, you're really making for yourself.
I love the mixes I make. How good is it when the mixee appreciates your work though??

Shalabi Effect, a Montreal quartet of Osama "Sam" Shalabi, Alexandre St-Onge, Anthony von Seck, and Will Eizlini have been pretty quiet in the nine years since releasing their last album Feign to Delight Gaeity of Gods, only releasing a tour EP in 2015 and playing a handful of shows here and there. Their newest album, Friends of the Prophet 6 has been in the works for a while, with potential release being hinted at since 2016 or 2017, but it's finally available for pre-order through the German experimental label/distributor, Unrock: https://www.unrock.de/product/shalabi-e ... -download/. It will be presumably available on their Bandcamp also, closer to whenever the actual release date is.

K.D.A.P. (aka Kevin Drew a Picture) is the new pseudonym of Broken Social Scene mainstay Kevin Drew, coined to produce his new album of instrumental electronic pop, Influences. From the sounds of the press release, it's like an overt, extroverted counterpart to the first BSS record, Feel Good Lost. The first single, "The Slinfold Loop," jives with that description, making use of the blissed out sunshine tones of latter day BSS set to a more less rigid song structure. The album is out July 16 on Arts & Crafts.
Here's "The Slinfold Loop":

Sorry if it's been mentioned before but the new FACS is outstanding, one of those bands that get better with every record.

This was good but I had to stop watching the vid as it began to give me a headache.

I can't remember who posted up the Dry Cleaning Unsmart Lady video (Higgs I think), but I have to say thanks, I love their stuff!
Conversely I've also being listening to Olivia Rodrigo's album and that's pretty great.

The first half of that record slaps. From the layered vocals, to the textured guitars, synth swells, crushing rhythm section (some gorgeous use of dynamics and bass overdrive in parts) -- it's a total onslaught.

Okay, first third*. This could have made one hell of an EP!
