Dropping them into the wilderness and having their twins there, it seems more like a virtual simulation when they’re innies…

He was Matrix level pimped out for sure. Another clue that it could be a simulation.

yeah i wasnt a fan of the last ep
- Spoiler: show
- i didnt liked the whole wilderness idea. why take them there or how do they make the simulation? also why was Irving so suspicious of Helly? Shouldnt be Mark who is suspicious? he is the one who spent the most time with her. Seemed convenient it was him.

I think there’s a 0% chance this was a simulation. I know there’s a theory that there are “layers” to severance, that the “real” world is just the severed version of another world above it, but I think that’d be a poor imitation of Inception and isn’t worth considering.
Irv doubting Helly makes total sense. He is absolutely broken, and his brief time in the real world showed him that his dreams of happiness with Burt are impossible. He’s the only one who didn’t interact with anyone on the outside; he’s completely alone (even though Dylan is trying his best to connect with him). Mark probably does deep down have some concerns about Helly, but he also wants to boink her, so that clouds it all for him.

Irv also seems to be the least severed, for lack of a better word. His outtie stays up all night painting the hallway. Then when his innie doses off at work, the paint seeps onto his dream.
His outtie has a mysterious phone call in which he tells whomever he's speaking to that "his innie got the message." How does he know that?
He has a box of research on Lumon. And there's still so much we don't know about him. Or his time working at Lumon before he was severed.
He also doubted Helly from the beginning (of S2) when she mentioned the night gardener. He's been suspicious of her from jump. So... it would be weird if it wasn't Irv that figured it out.

Irv has also been severed the longest of any of the MDRers, during my first watch of Season 1 I just sort of assumed the line between innie/outie was breaking down with time (an older version of the technology?). I totally forgot about all the documents in his house until my rewatch of the season finale; sure seems like he’s an anti-severance activist who weaseled his way into Lumon.

And we STILL haven't seen what happened right after the OTC ended and he's banging on Burt's door.
This whole thing might hinge on Mark but Irv might be the most fascinating character.

Yea I agree that Irv outie seems to be in some kind of situation for sure. Could be something very interesting we’ll see.
I just found it very convenient for the story to move “forward” that he all of a sudden does that to her.
Kinda rushed.

Not really? In SE02EP01 we saw him contemplate suicide (which is basically what walking into the stairwell would’ve been); ever since he’s come back he’s been balancing on the edge of a knife with only Dylan trying to keep him steady. Add in all the bleed through from his outie that we’ve seen since Season 1, Irv was poised for some sort of explosion, and Helena being cruel to him was just his breaking point.
I was sort of wishy washy on this season besides a few scenes up to this point, but this episode blew me away.

I needed more time with him figuring out stuff with Helly
Anyway, looking forward to the next one.

Seemed like the same dopey Mark this ep. Wasn’t he integrated or whatever it’s called? Maybe it didn’t work.

I was super tired but managed to stay awake to watch last night and didn't love the episode. The aesthetics felt off (it was not directed by Stiller) and it felt like it was verging a bit into "sniffing its own farts" territory with stuff like the performance review. I need to watch it again while loaded up with caffeine.
