Same thing on Life of Chuck.

From that list i saw

Bugonia
Marty Supreme
F1
Sinners
One Battle
Sentimental Value

I would say my favorite might be SV with One Battle and MS being close. And the worst by far is Sinners.

I’ve seen none of them so far, but will start with Train Dreams and Frankenstein, within a week or so. Have ordered or bought the rest.

Are you buying physical copies of all these movies?

I think how you feel about Sinners has a lot to do with your connections or lack thereof to black culture. I saw it in the theater with my girlfriend at the time, who is black. Afterward, we had a very emotional moment together as she was processing many of its themes. There's a ton of under-the-surface stuff about cultural vampirism and black suffering and resilience.

That said, I totally understand a lot of the criticisms. It takes forever to get to the vampire story, and it kind of rushes thru it in ways that don't always make sense. I still like it quite a bit more than From Dusk Til Dawn, which clearly influenced it. Also, the music is unassailable in my opinion. Just top tier.

Of the others in this list, the only that I've seen is One Battle After Another which I thought was pretty great, but kind of "affected" in that "I'm going for an Oscar" type of way.

well, maybe?

my main problem with the movie is that it was boring as hell. I also hated the direction, the framing. The photography was super bland and blurry. The acting was mostly awful.

You've lost your damn mind, bro.

Sinners shits all over F1!

no way.

F1 is a masterclass in craft. The sound design alone shits all over the blurry shots of Sinners.

Are the shots blurry, or do your eyes refuse to see black people clearly?

Could there have been a problem with your projection? I know that's unusual but my second time seeing 28YL Bone Temple the projection was awful and it was blurry the whole time.

I only mention this because I've seen Sinners multiple times at the theater and at home, and at no time did I notice any kind of problem with blurriness.

Both were very good. Probably the best streaming exclusives (movies only available on a single streaming service, and not for sale) from 2025.
