Those albums have strict "no terrible songs" policies.
This is lazy trolling, CHUD. You know I'm right. Tonally and rhythmically it could be on Riot Act; thematically it would fit right on Binaural.cutuphalfdead wrote:Those albums have strict "no terrible songs" policies.
It's got a bit of Bushleaguer about it too.BurtReynolds wrote:I do get kind of a Breakerfall/Riot Act vibe, but I don't know if it would easily fit on those albums. Actually I dont think Breakerfall fits either.
Honestly, I'd have to listen to Getaway again to see if you're right and I really have no interest in doing that.harmless wrote:This is lazy trolling, CHUD. You know I'm right. My assessment a while back was that this album seems as if Backspacer ran up to Binaural and Riot Act and gave them a big hug. It's happier but it's tonally reminiscent, to me anyway.turned2black wrote:I don't hear RA or Binaural at all. It's overt to the point of banality, which is really my big problem with late PJ.
I particularly dislike the "lighthouse in the dark stormy weather" line.
What do you think about the drumming in this one, harmless? I have no idea about drums but I enjoy what Matt is doing here together with Jeff. It's so driving. There are these little "pushes" in the "It's okay" part that drive the song forward.harmless wrote:My assessment a while back was that this album seems as if Backspacer ran up to Binaural and Riot Act and gave them a big hug. Very much so. Jeff and Matt seem very locked-in on these four leaked tracks. They're both a bit too subdued and subtle in MYM, which is strange, but these four? Yeah. The grooviness and tone of this song is what reminds of Riot Act... I can hear Matt on "Can't Keep" here in the sense that he's driving it.Mike wrote:What do you think about the drumming in this one, harmless? Any better suggestions?brian24587 wrote:I'm not entirely sure he says "Science says were making love like the lizards". One, that makes no sense. And two there is a "B" sound on the word after "love". I don't know. I just don't think this lyric fits at all and it really is something different.
No. I've listened to it a ton and I can't come up with anything better. But it just doesn't fit with the next three lines at all.harmless wrote:Any better suggestions?brian24587 wrote:I'm not entirely sure he says "Science says were making love like the lizards". Of course it does. Those lines contrast science's exploration and discovery with religion's "Believe it because I tell you to and do what I say."brian24587 wrote:No. I've listened to it a ton and I can't come up with anything better.
