Imperial Stout. It's about to be carried to the closet where it will sit for 16 days.

This is the second time I've done an Imperial.

I've also done Hop Grenade, an IPA, a Double IPA and Amber Ale a couple times. The Amber Ale is pretty much foolproof, only a moron could fuck it up. The hardest to do has been the Imperial. My first batch was just on this side of drinkable. I don't think I let it ferment long enough. We'll see if I can better it in a few weeks.

Thanks for the heads up. I live in MS and just last year they finally raised the apv for beers from 5% to 10%. The state even has dry counties. 7 or 8 of them. I used to have to drive 40 mins to Louisianna for craft beers and even now selections here are limited. None of the retailers have invested money into large selections and some places have trimmed back their initial offerings. People here love their budlight.

Even homebrewing is illegal. Like I give a fuck.

*edit* I have to go to Louisianna to find firestone.

Awesome. Im brewing a RIS this weekend that will probably age until February. Lots of work but so worth it.

After trying who knows how many beers over the years i finally had some two hearted ale. Holy shit thats a delicious beer. I cant wait until Bells comes to Ny.

I've always liked these though the taste of alcohol is pretty upfront.

Plus two Ambers I brewed last November.

This hangover is yet another reminder I'm not in my 20s anymore. Used to be I could show up at the construction site after 4 hours sleep still drunk and be productive and do it again the next day.
Ask me about the time I did Tommy Gun chasers all night with an old friend and showed up at work drunk and the foreman needed me to operate the backhoe. No idea how I functioned that day.

I tried a new brewer based in Astoria, NY (Queens) this weekend called Single Cut. I tried their NW Mahogany Ale (very delicious) and a porter that I do not see listed on their website.

As an aside, I do plan to take a growler to local beer snob hot spot The Beer Necessities - http://beers-newrochelle.com/ - for a $7.99 growler for Friday. Good times.

FYI, I went with Sam Adams IPL (Boston) (not a typo) and Six Point Cream Ale (Brooklyn). Openned the IPL and it's pretty decent. Saving the Cream ale for Friday.

I've been aging a bottle of Jolly Pumpkin's La Rosa (sour red) for over a year and I think I might break that baby open this week. I've been thinking about it all day.

Can't go wrong with Two Hearted Ale. It's my gold standard for IPAs. For a good year, I tried a lot of different IPAs, kinda going on a "anything but Two Hearted Ale" kick. When I came back to it, after all the others I drank, it was still my favorite.

Anyone try the Sam Adams "hopology" mixer?

Now Sam is one of these breweries I want to like, but I'm typically disappointed. However, some of the beers in the "hopology" 12 pack were the best Sam's I've had in years. Particularly the 'Tasman Red IPA' and the 'Grumpy Monk'. The latter was a Belgium style IPA, and normally I'm not too crazy about those, but I like this one. Most likely because it was relatively safe and not too over-the-top, as some other Belgium style IPA's I've had. Having said that, I'd imagine if you really love Belgium IPAs, then the Sam's won't really be your bag. If you are like me though, and do not care for them too much, this is a good "entry level" one.

I enjoy Sam Adams Latitude IPA. Not awesome but its very inoffensive. Also the Whey Heavy is A-OK w/ me.

just walked to the bank and on the way I have to pass my local beer bar..Happened to look in and see the bartender putting a tap handle of Pliny up..I rushed in and enjoyed the first 2 pints from the keg
