Shellac is probably a band I'd pop my head in to see if they were playing at the venue across the street.
Firewater and Libertine are probably my favorite, followed by Lifestyle.super nintendo chalmers wrote:washing machine wrote:I wouldn't say I'm listening to Silkworm as much as I'm listening to Lifestyle right now. I should explore further, but for now it's just that album on repeat.super nintendo chalmers wrote:I'm so glad people are listening to Silkworm.
Once they click, they click.
Yeah, keep cooking with the Touch & Go albums then work your way backwards.
Christ, I can't wait for someone to get hooked on Firewater!
What's a Shellac show like?tragabigzanda wrote:Leatherhead wrote:I just bought Shellac tickets.Enjoy!
eyes forward. no eye contact with albini. minimal arm-folding.tragabigzanda wrote:Perfect sound, phenomenal performance performance in a small venue. There's typically a couple brief Q&A sessions between songs. The downside is you're surrounded by black-clad edge lords; Shellac fans tend to be a certain type. Don't interact with anyone and just enjoy the show.Leatherhead wrote:What's a Shellac show like?tragabigzanda wrote:Leatherhead wrote:I just bought Shellac tickets.Enjoy!

It was awesome. They opened with All the Surveyors, which was fucking sweet. Found them to be pretty funny in between some songs. Albini sounded fuckin' great for 60 years old. I didn't know the bassist "sings" on some stuff. I loved the way Albini talked in between some songs, even if he's talking nonsense, there's something about the way he speaks on the stage that's so captivating. The whole show was quite heavy, my neck still hurts a bit. Probably the best positioning I've ever had at a show, me and my wife were probably less than 10ft from the stage and right in the middle. I'm 6'2", but my wife's only 5ft tall, and sometimes she can't see shit because of who happens to be standing in front of her, but luckily there were other short people in front of her and so she had a good view. I've only been to maybe 10 shows in my adult life, but this one ranks in the top 3 for sure. Shellac isn't on Spotify anymore, gonna have to find another way to listen to 'em.tragabigzanda wrote:How was the show, leatherhead?
