I'm not saying the Jays' chances hinge on Dickey, they have 3 strong starters after him(plus Happ looked dynamite in his first start to boot.) The idea of giving up your top prospect, or any high end talent for that matter, for Dickey is ludicrous to me though. It's not looking good so far is all I'm saying.

Yup. It's absolutely fair to question the trade if you feel that way, but the last two starts shouldn't affect your assessment at all.

It's not just the trade, 25 mil over 2 years for Dickey is mind numbing as well. The Jays arent the Yankees, it easily possible that they wouldnt be able to afford a final piece to put them over the top next offseason, and they would have enough money available(at least for one season) to do that if they didnt sign Dickey to that contract. It wasnt even a massive need for them to begin with, they had already acquired Johnson and Buerhle with Morrow already in house.

There's a huge difference there. The idea was that Dickey is a piece to put them over the top, and 25 million over two years isn't a bad contract at all based on his last three years.

Agreed on this. Dickey won the Cy Young and it's like everyone forgot that for him, greatness was the anomaly.

I somewhat agree on that, except that the only significant statistical difference between last year and the previous two was a huge increase in strikeouts. If he reverts to the Dickey from 2010-11, he will still be worth the money they're paying him.

I wouldnt say so much that he LEANS into pitches
but his hands are definitely out over the plate in his "pre-swing"
and he starts opened up, steps more toward first, than straight at the pitcher
which, leads to a batter who cant get out of the way of a high and tight fastball

Rickie Weeks is horrible at this as well and gets hit by alot of balls.

that being said, its pretty obvious Greinke wasnt trying to hit him, its a freaking full count leading off the inning in a one run game late in the game? THAT IS NOT the time to hit someone. The catcher set up low and away, and you clearly see him not ready to stop Quentin. Infact, no one on the Dodgers infield was...

and now my ace pitcher for my fantasy team is out (thats the 4th straight year one of my top 3 picks has been knocked out damn the luck Elsbury 2010, Joe Mauer 2011, Troy Tulowitsky 2012, and now Greinke) Quentin should be suspended as long as Greinke is out, for being a total douchebag... if youre hit THAT many times... its because youre not getting out of the way. The ball that hit him a few nights ago against the dodgers, HES SWINGING AT IT. I had on MLB Network when it all went down, im totally with Mitch and Plesac...

I know football has been out of LA for quite a while now and USC's defense freaking sucks, but come on now.

Grienke had this coming to him because he decided to mouth off about it more so than because he hit the guy.

Obviously it doesn't make it right, but baseball is occupied by a lot of immature well paid babies.

The Quentin should be suspended for as long as Greinke is out argument is really hilarious to me. Why doesnt anyone say this when a pitcher breaks a batter's wrist with a pitch, intentional or not?

Why doesn't baseball suspend players for leaving the bench like other sports? I find it hilarious that baseball is the only sport where, if there's a fight, the entire team can flood out onto the field from the dugout and bullpen and join.

I always love watching the Bullpen guys running in together, then holding hands on their way back out... LOL

the reason baseball allows the dugouts to empty is simple... the other sports are all 5 on 5 / 6 on 6 / 11 on 11... baseball at best youd be in a 4 on 9... sure, it would pretty much make a batter think twice about charging the mound... but then AL pitchers would really have no fear of pitching inside... as they already dont have to hit.

He probably just told Quentin to relax, considering it wasn't intentional.

So Reyes is hurt once again. Big shocker there. I was probably the only Mets fan who wasn't sorry to see him go a couple of years ago and the injuries were the main reason I felt that way. I hope for his and the Jays' sakes that he can still run the same way after that serious an ankle sprain.

At least Dickey finally won a game.
