I'll be honest. I never liked the original. But this thing looks like they took the few things I did like about it and replaced them with explosions and platitudes.

The cast is promising, though. I'll probably Netflix it.

Yup. And I don't care what the people here say, Children of Men was awesome. This is the only movie this year I am looking forward to.
Wait a good goddamn minute...

Who the fuck doesn't think Children of Men was/is awesome?!
One of the few movies that RM masturbates over.

I mean, I thought was pretty good, but I never lost my shit over it.

looks like a passable blockbuster, but will be missing everything that made the original so awesome.

The cinematography in CoM is killer. The long tracking shot where the camera gets sprayed with blood is amazing.

I hear Gravity is the same way. Minus the splattered blood.

What's really impressive to me about that scene is the seamless editing. The continuity is perfect, even though it's almost certainly more than one shot. The ambush scene shot from inside the car was also really cool. Probably even more impressive in how it's choreographed.

Hmm. This might be my first trip to the movie theater since Prometheus (which was dull).

The impact of 'space' is better on IMAX sized screens where the screen image extends into your peripheral vision. I usually watch movies at home on my Eddie Vedder Projector, currently ranked #4, so if I am going to go pay for a babysitter and movie it's gotta be an experience better than what I can get at home.

The two scenes are amazing...the ambush scene its one of my favorites scenes from all times. Not only because of its choreography and photography, but because it helps to set a tone for the entire movie.
I remember watching the movie and after that i got that sense of everything can happen at any time. That´s great storytelling.

Captain Phillips is receiving rave reviews for its intense realism & Tom Hanks' stellar performance. But some critics are wary of its politics:

"That said, I heard one notion advanced after my screening that though 'Captain Phillips' is based on a true story, the optics of this film — where wild-eyed black villains attack decent, hard-working white people — may make some Academy members uncomfortable and could seem out of step with a cinematic year that boasts 'Fruitvale Station, The Butler, and the soon-to-come awards season juggernaut '12 Years a Slave.'"

Oh, liberal hollywood.
