Good review, but 'hauntology'? Really?
Also, I never found out how well the last album was received. Did people generally not like it? I wasn't enthralled straight away but ended up thinking it was excellent, even though it required a crazy amount of patience. This one is a brilliant album but, for me, different because everything on it was instantly likable. The second half of the album had to grow on me slightly, mind.

I love this album. Also, I don't really have heroes or musical idols these days but if I had one it'd be Jonsi.

I think I mentioned that my 5-year old absolutely loves Jonsi and Sigur Ros. He can't figure out why we can't go to Jonsi's house in Iceland when we go on vacation, or why Jonsi can't come to ours when Sigur Ros plays Chicago. I must say, after listening to this album on halfway decent speakers, I have a new-found respect to George and [insert drummer's name here].
This album is brillant. I love it.

He's a great hero for a kid to have, certainly.

This album is outrageous.
I'll be in Iceland in September and it will be hard to have any other music than these guys playing in the car on the road trip.

I'm not feeling this one yet. Valtari is ages ahead, but I'll keep listening.

It's really apples and oranges. I think it all depends what your Sigur Rós cup of tea is.
If you like Valtari, you have to at least like Yfirborò.
Speaking of which, I think the percussion on that song is one of the coolest things Sigur Rós has recorded in a decade. I really didn't pick it up or appreciate it when I saw them in April.

I think what we have in Valtari / Kveikur is yin and yang. That was probably deliberate.

I like Valtari more, but I dig the vibe on this new record. It's got a different personality (harmless's ying/yang, if you will), and since I usually only spin SR records when I'm in a certain mood, it's pretty clear to me that when I'm in a certain frame of mind, I'll want to throw Kveikur on more than Valtari.
I had to cancel my Kveikur pre-order b/c I wasn't sure about my next paycheck, but now the guy at my local record store is holding me a copy

Also, my pre-order of the Hvarf/Heim repress arrived yesterday--won't be able to spin it until maybe Friday, but I'm pumped!

I've tried to watch this live Kveikur stream thing that's on now. But my computer is slow as treacle and the stream keeps pausing. Really pissed off. Hopefully it gets onto Youtube at some point.

I got nothing on the stream. I looked at the setlist, and am surprised that they didn't play Rafstraumur. They better introduce it to the setlist by September.

If you forget about it a lot, like habitually, that must also mean that you remember it a lot. So who wins?
