Good piece about one of my favourite albums of all time.
The Cure’s ‘Faith’ at 35: A Lysergic Rainbow Seen From an Ice Floe
By Tim Sommer

Glacial, monumental and devastatingly simple, Faith, the third album by the Cure, is the spirit of ’76 slowed to a crawl, infused with Satie-like spaces, and re-imagined as a sad opium dreamscape. It is one of the greatest accomplishments of post-punk, and April 14 marks the 35th anniversary of its release.

Excellent b-side from The Glove, Robert's 1983 side project with Steve Severin from The Banshees.

That whole Japanese Whispers/The Glove/The Top (as well as Hyaena by the Banshees which he also plays on) period is a real highpoint of The Cure's and Robert's output for me; an explosive year and a half (or so) of unsettling pop weirdness.

The US leg of this mammoth world tour kicks off in New Orleans on May 10, I'm anticipating a surprise new album drop some time very soon - a tour this big doesn't make a great deal of sense sense unless they have new music to play (and the band have been dropping low-key hints for a while that they've been working on something).

Guess not, unless it's coming once the tour's already begun.

Adelaide and Perth shows now announced, I am a happy spenno. Would love to see them more than once but I doubt I can swing that with work right now, alas.

How on earth have they not played "Screw" in over 30 years? That's one of my favorite Cure songs.

Really stoked for you. I'm getting excited to see them in a couple weeks. The news that they are playing "A Letter to Elise" and "This Twilight Garden" on tour have me, as you say, vibrating with excitement. Those are two of my favorite Cure songs and I'd ruled out the chance of ever getting to hear them.

It was a really disjointed set. Saw some on Periscope and they're tight as always but it didn't flow particularly well.

I've always found Want a strange song to play mid-set, it feels like it only works as an opener (and they have much better opening songs, so...)
