Ghost Riding is such a beautiful piece of work.

Im actually listening to RHCP's The Getaway a lot. Their Lolla show was pretty good...After that, im waiting for the new Dino to be my favorite from this year.

Wilco star wars is from last summer

Frederico Albanese's The Blue Hour is the most beautiful album I've heard so far this year. Lovely instrumentals, perfect for background at work or reading, or thinking, or drifting or dreaming.

Best album:
Margo Price - Midwest Farmer's Daughter. Old school country songs with a motown capable rhythm section.

Most Pleasant Surprise (tied):
Tedeschi Trucks Band - Let Me Get By. Best blues album in a long time.
Rival Sons - Hollow Bones. My Favorite rock album of the year.
Sam The Astronaut - Girls of Summer. A cheat, my kid's album but for a band of 19-22 year olds they are so far ahead of the pop game.
Explosions In The Sky - Wilderness.

Most Disappointing:
Radiohead - A Moon Shaped Pool. I think Trag put it well "It's a lot of empty gloom." I like the album but it's mid-tier Radiohead at best. The lack of hope is just disparaging at times.

Old Favorites Still Putting Out Great Records:
David Bowie - Blackstar. This album is just amazing, has all the qualities missing from A Moon Shaped Pool.

A couple older albums that I've discovered this year:
Oasis - Standing on the Shoulder of Giants, Don't Believe The Truth. Never got into nor appreciated Oasis in their day. It has been really nice discovering them through their re-releases.
Sticky Fingers - Caress Your Soul and Land of Pleasure. Reggae infused rock done in a big Oasis like wall of sound.
The White Stripes - BBC Sessions.

And then some old favorites that I've been revisiting and enjoying for fresh and exciting reasons:
Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream
Robert Johnson - Collection.
