Not really a spoiler, but I want those who haven't seen it to feel as fresh as possible. This short exchange alone was worth the wait for me:
- Spoiler: show
- Denise: Will Albert be with you?
Gordon Cole: Do birds fly?
Okay, actual thru part 4 spoiler:
- Spoiler: show
- Anyone want to talk about that Wally Brando scene? While I loved how the first three episodes were some of the most surreal and puzzling moments of the series thus far, that scene and many others in the fourth episode were kind of a relief. Its something Twin Peaks has always done so well, and I was kind of afraid that the light hearted absurdity was going to be almost totally absent from this season. This show hasn't lost a beat.
I finally watched episodes 3 & 4!
A few thoughts:
- Spoiler: show
- - I found it very interesting how they eased into the tone of the original series. I find the humor to be funnier than pretty much any network TV show out there. I'm curious if the tone will stay this way or if they will go back and forth.
- Speaking of humor - I freaking loved Wally Brando. It took me a minute to catch onto the joke, but that was hilarious!
- Seeing Major Briggs was a nice touch. I really hope they find a way to get some footage in of Bowie as well. They are definitely not shying away from the character at all.
- Gosh, I love Gordon Cole.
- I'm wondering if the drugged out mom and the child are the Magician and Old Lady (I always refer to her as Grandma Gilmore from Happy Gilmore because I'm not sure if she has a name or not). It would make sense because she was semi-speaking backwards with "1-1-9", and the two of them seem to have some sort of guardian angel role.
I also rewatched episodes 1 & 2
- Spoiler: show
- - I'm convinced that the burned up looking guy in the jail cell is The Log Lady's husband. In Mark Frost's book, The Secret History of Twin Peaks, it talks about how he was a big time logger and on their wedding day there was a fire in the forest and he was killed. In Fire Walk With Me, one of the people with Bob above the convenience store fits his description (a stereotypical logger). The burned up guy looks about the same.

We should probably wait until Sunday, no? Since that's when 3 & 4 actually air on Showtime?

Also,
- Spoiler: show
- Wally Brando is the greatest thing I've ever seen on TV. Michael Cera deserves a fucking Emmy and a Golden Globe for that scene.

- Scott Pilgrim Vs the World is one of my favorite movies of all-time, but Wally Brando is Michael Cera's crowning achievement.

Totally agree. In four episodes this show has given me everything I could have ever wanted from a Twin Peaks revival. It's been so special so far, and that has got to be one of the major highlights. Like, top 3 scenes of the entire series.

- Happy to see I'm not in the minority here regarding Wally Brando.

I've never seen this show but started with the pilot last night via Netflix. Seems intriguing so far...

I whole-heartedly agree. I'm really glad I read it before this current season. There's a second book coming out on Halloween.

Are we expecting more behind these 18 episodes, or is this pretty much the wrap up of the saga? Haven't paid any attention to news or confirmed rumors regarding this Showtime deal.
