Agreed on Greene. Should have been in years ago.

I'd vote TD in. His pre-injury seasons were incredible. Bettis has no reason to be anywhere near the hall.

I'm on the fence about Bettis. He's top-10 all-time in rush attempts, yards, and rush TDs, top-25 in total TDs and yards from scrimmage, but he was a 1-dimensional players who never led the league in anything except rushing attempts and never received a single MVP vote. He had pretty bad playoff numbers despite having one ring. Just doesn't stand out except for the volume numbers, which I'm not sure = HOF.

Attempts and yards are bullshit to me when your YPC is that low. TD should be in instead of him.

longevity should also count

Being consistently mediocre for longer period of doesn't help his case.

Health is really the only impressive thing there. Many other backs could have gotten those numbers with that many carries. I'm more impressed with players with insane peaks, but that's just me.

Agreed. I don't think TD really belongs either, but I'd put him way before Bettis. Bettis was good for a few years and mediocre for a few more. He's basically getting in the HOF because (1) he was a Steeler and (2) the Steelers were defense and ball control 3 yards and a cloud of dust for the vast majority of his career so he piled up a ton of carries.

Yup.
3.9YPC and 71.2 YdPG are both the lowest of the top ten rushing leaders( with the exception of Faulks 69.8 YPG but he more than made up for it in receiving yards) Even if you take out his final 4 seasons (every supporters excuse for his low numbers) his YPC is still 3.9 with a 78 YdPG.
I mean that's basically Joique Bell.

Question: other that TD, how many other RBs are going to have a serious shot at the HOF from here on out? Tomlinson and Peterson are going to be no-brainers, but after them...hmm. Maybe Lynch gets a mention?

I'd argue that Peterson is no longer a no-brainer.
But LT definitely is.
But after that? Good question...

Peterson's actually going to be a good test case. They are supposed to set off-field events (good or bad) aside, and I strongly agree with that. It's the Pro Football Hall of Fame, not the Outstanding Moral Citizens Hall of Fame. Even if he doesn't play another snap, Peterson has done more than enough on the field to get in--and I think he'll play again.

I think he'll play again too. I also think he should be in.
But I'm just not so sure he will be voted in.
It is interesting how in the football HOF, morals and citizenship shouldn't be included, but they are in baseball's HOF.

Well, then the baseball HOF has it wrong.
At least Peter King is one person that has this right--he said he'd consider Darren Sharper. I think several safeties belong in before Sharper, but it's not a completely ludicrous question. This is why I thought that it was a strange hill for Drew Magary to die on in his quest to bash King, considering that: a) it's correct to not have a morals clause, and; b) Magary actually agrees with King on the essential point.

I would easily vote for (In Order) : Jamaal Charles, Adrian Peterson, Arian Foster, Marshawn Lynch, Matt Forte.
