For me, Pilate stands out as the moment that I pretty much remained the only big PJ fan amongst my friends in high school. Everyone basically gave up on them at that point. I remember specifically because it was my turn to choose the music on a basketball team road trip and by the time Pilate came on, the tribe spoke and changed the music.tragabigzanda wrote:It's an odd idea for me now, that people didn't like the album. I adored the album right out of the gate, and also didn't have any friends who liked PJ they way I did, so my opinion wasn't ever swayed.VinylGuy wrote:It is weird to remember how much PJ fans didnt care about No Code in those years.durdencommatyler wrote:My friend didn't want to buy it even though he was the Pearl Jam fan that turned me on to Pearl Jam. He didn't like Vitalogy very much. So I bought No Code the day it came out. Invited him over and we listened to it on my dad's really nice stereo.VinylGuy wrote:No Code turned...20? I was in love with it and he was bored out of his mind. I don't think he listened to it again for several months after that. It couldn't stop listening to it.
I listened to it last night for the first time in a long time and that was the random related thought i had. Just felt strange. I dont know.Birds in Hell wrote:What the hell, Strat?Strat wrote:Ten is very poorly sequenced.
I wonder if some of this comes down to so many of these songs traditionally occupying different positions in live sets than they do on the record. "Oceans" and "Release" in the middle and at the end, respectively, rather than opening; "Porch" mid-record rather than at the end of a set; "Alive" at the beginning, not during an encore.Strat wrote:I listened to it last night for the first time in a long time and that was the random related thought i had. Naugahyde leashes are the best kind. It is his most relevant lyric ever, maybe.Kevin Davis wrote:I always thought "I'm lost, I'm no guide/But I'm by your side" was perhaps the only decent lyric in "Leash." But yesterday I listened to the Aladdin show and heard "I'm lost, I'm naugahyde," and now I can't unhear it.
Was this in honour of the kid being born straight after her husbands 41st PJ concert?Monkey_Driven wrote:One of friend's former coworkers (bear with me) named their newborn Vedder.
