If everyone had guessed too early, you should pick one day above the maximum date bid so far. That way you would always be closest, and could not go over, if you were right about the other predictions.
If you bid 01.01.2100, you would be over until 01.01.2100.

If person 1 bid $43,770 and person 2 bid $44,138 and the actual retail price was $43,910, then person 1 wins.

If your guess is 50, my guess is 75, and the answer is 74, you win.
