Feel the Love, Freeee, Reborn, Kids See Ghosts, and Cudi Montage are all great but even among a set of really, really good songs I think Cudi Montage might be on a whole other level.

I thought the beat in Cudi Montage was painfully boring.

I'm a big fan of all three of these new Kanye projects. I loved Clipse's "Hell Hath No Fury" but I never paid attention to the follow-up or to any of Pusha's solo stuff, but "Daytona" shows that he hasn't lost a step while also establishing that Kanye, even as the music released under his own name becomes increasingly eclectic and arty, is still just about the best producer in the game when it comes to straight-up hip-hop. His musicianship just instantly elevates the music to a higher level.
"Ye" and "Kids See Ghosts" are both just tremendous pieces of work -- parallels of each other to my ears, both beginning in dark places and gradually moving towards more redemptive ends ("Ye" speaking in terms of Kanye's relationship to his family, with "KSG" speaking in terms of his spirituality). These albums have also provided some context for me to go back and view "Yeezus" and "Life of Pablo," both of which left kind of a sour taste in my mouth at first, through a new lens, the way a earlier chapters of a book tie together once a later chapter brings them an element of resolution. So I'm pretty high on Kanye right now. Can't wait for the Nas album (it comes out on my birthday so I am sure it will be great).

Congrats to LV's podcast for getting some e-ink in this article, though they missed the boat not getting an interview with him personally.

Kanye needs to get out of his own way and let the music be up front. Not his psychosis
