I was just composing a post in my head about how WWE is long, long overdue to have a black world champion, and didn't even consider that there's never been an Asian world champion (except for the Great Khali, but it's pretty common to separate Asian and South Asian), despite the long, long history of Japanese wrestling. Really, it's just shameful (for the writers, mostly) that it's so hard for them to push anyone but a white guy or a Samoan.

I might take this back in a week, but that was the best match in WWE since Punk/Cena at MITB.

If Vince turns Nakamura into a stereotypical Asian comedy act I am going to actually kill him.

It was still a really good match, but the ref/doctors really tried their hardest to ruin Balor vs Joe.

I feel like they were actually able to turn that into good storytelling, because they'd always call a timeout right when it seemed Joe had Balor on the ropes. But it woulda made more sense if that was setting up a comeback win for Joe. I'm actually surprised he lost.
But, yeah, Zayn going out on his back topped basically everything.

I was also surprised that Joe lost. The crowd was ready for Joe to win too, it wouldn't have ended the night on a sour note.

I think the conventional wisdom was that Balor was going to lose and then head to the main roster soon. Could this signal that Joe might be headed up soon instead?
