Progressive California has the intractable conflict of trying to maintain housing values for early arrivals, maintaining green-space, and never blocking anyone's view with densification while decrying a "housing crisis". Why this ends with feces in the street sounds like a separate issue to me, but apparently that's just baked in.

My whole neighborhood was out looking at this last night. I thought it was possibly a helicopter lighting a structure fire, but the helicopter would have been too stationary. Must admit, it looked really strange. It was overcast where we were and the clouds backlit it all in a bizarre green haze.
