I remember seeing it in the theater and the only scary part was the part with the old lady that was in the trailer.

My mom wants the whole family to go to the theater this week so I'll probably be seeing A Quiet Place 2. Do I need to see the first one?

oh i need to watch this one! i started it a few months ago and leave it there....tragabigzanda wrote:American Werewolf In London. Still mostly great, but I hadn't seen it in years and never appreciated how stiff the dialogue was, and how nothing happens for like 30 full minutes after the first attack.

Sort of my take. The film just seemed like a long string of unnecessarily violent scenes with dime-store psychobabble crammed in between, not trying to scare the viewer really but make them feel repulsed by what they were seeing. Much like the torture porn crazy a while back. Not my thing I guess.

Re: What movies are you watching?
2 Fast 2 Furious is an odd duck.
It's much better visually, aesthetically, and stylistically than the first one. But otherwise, on all other levels, it's a giant step down.
Eva Mendez is the only competent actor in the movie and she's given exactly nothing to do. Paul Walker still sucks. There's no Vin which really hurts.
I don't know the backstory behind the movie and why there's no Vin but it's clear he was supposed to be the Tyrese character in the original concept/draft and how they patched that little hole is laughably absurd.
Again, the story doesn't make sense but unlike the last one, there's no charm to make the medicine go down. The dialog is stupid and there aren't any fun one liners like "You can have any brew you want, as long as it's Corona" from the first one.
The cars are better and the action sequences/racing are great fun.
Easily the worst in the franchise that I've seen so far.
Looking forward to the third one, which we're hoping to watch tonight.

This was super enjoyable, though definitely mid-tier Soderbergh. Can't quite put my finger on why yet but it doesn't quite have the sparkle of Out Of Sight. In some ways it feels like a muted Coens film. Some great performances, I would have taken a lot more Brendan Fraiser.Mickey wrote:Looking forward to No Sudden Move on HBO tonight.
