So.....
Nice!
I didn't get any records this year. It was more of a Star Wars Christmas than a vinyl christmas. That being said I tried to give my mom an easy gift-idea for me so I said I'd like the new Coldplay record (don't judge, it's our musical common ground for her and I). She knows full well I only collect vinyl. Anyways, she got me the CD. Good try Mom! :)

Ugh man that sucks. Pretentious record store clerks are the worst. I went through about a 8-10 year gap where I out my record purchasing on the back burner, so recently I've been trying to fill in holes with some classic records like you mentioned. I find myself willing to pay a couple of bucks extra on shipping from Discogs just so I don't have to worry about the exact experience that you described. Generally all the places I shop locally are super cool and nice... But you just never know when they're gonna hire that Jack Black High Fidelity character haha.
.

I made this point earlier in the thread!

I got four records among my other Christmas gifts this year:

Tom Petty - Hypnotic Eye
Tom Petty - Long After Dark
Kings of Leon - Because of the Times
Adele - 25

I got a £20 Amazon gift card, so I just bought Dylan's "Oh Mercy".

I tried giving Slave Ambient a listen a few weeks ago and just couldn't get into it. Lost in the Dream is such a huge step up

so guys, my gf got a crosley for christmas, and I got into tracking down old Steely Dan Vinyls pretty quick, but I already figured out that the player is a piece of shit, and have to convince her to get the receipt from her dumb brother so we can return it.

The first three songs on "Slave Ambient" are great. It takes a dive after that -- "Lost in the Dream" is definitely a great leap forward.

So, i have upgraded my audio technica turntable with the ortofon 2m Red.

As stated previously, a special friend of mine gave me some money to put towards records but im thinking here...

Is there anything else I could do to upgrade my table or have I hit the limit for this table at this point?

Speakers? I'm not a speaker-phile, so I can't help pick 'em out, but if you're using budget ones, I'd say spring for something nicer.
