I know he the most high, but I am a close high

The MGS V to Far Cry comparison is too far of a stretch. They are similar in that they both inhabit large open worlds, and in those worlds you can capture animals and gather resources, as well as take over enemy bases either stealthily or guns ablazin'. This is about 10% of what you do in MGS, whereas that is 90% of what you do in Far Cry. After that, they are not even close to the same game.

If the Witcher 3 wouldn't have been so goddamn amazing, MGS would hands down be my game of the year.

Yeah, I finally bit the bullet last weekend and took care of it, mostly since MGS was coming out this week. I had finished probably 95% of all the side quests, so I feel like I got almost all of what the game had to offer (until the expansion pack, that is!). I can't remember the last time I was so completely satisfied by a gaming experience. I'm hoping MGS at least comes close.

This thread motivated me to try Ocarina of Time again. The last time I tried I didn't get very far. I only remember something about an egg. A link to the past is one of my favorite games of all time, so I don't know why I haven't really played OOT yet.

I have no idea how anyone completed OOT without a guide. How the fuck are you supposed to figure out some of the crazy things you need to do to complete the game?

I guess most of it is stuff you have to do in order to get all the skulltulas and things like that, but still. Things like standing in a specific spot and playing a certain song, moving a certain rock and using a bottle to collect bugs, then dropping the bugs in a specific location, following rigid rules to get to a blocked area in order to grab some cuccoos, etc.

I guess most of it is stuff you have to do in order to get all the skulltulas and things like that, but still. Things like standing in a specific spot and playing a certain song, moving a certain rock and using a bottle to collect bugs, then dropping the bugs in a specific location, following rigid rules to get to a blocked area in order to grab some cuccoos, etc.

There are tells for bug usage. Skulltellas usually make noise. The time travel in the desert was tough.

I did have the guide. I only used it if stuck. And for my 100% play through.

This was a fun game to play and bond with my stepson. He did the primary game stuff, and then when I wanted to play I'd run around and look for skulltulas, do some of the stupid games, etc.

He was way better at fighting though. Also, we needed the guide in the end, mostly for hearts and heart pieces.

I think if you played through all the other Zelda games and similar RPGs you were kind of prepared for this kind of stuff, so it was a little easier to figure that kind of stuff out. I played it in high school when it first came out and was able to 100% without a guide (pre-internet). The game does teach you the basic mechanics/tells of the deeper stuff, then it's up to you to do the rest. Classic Nintendo game design.
