Nirvana’s Krist Novoselic Praises Trump’s Riots Speech: He ‘Knocked It Out of the Park’
“I know many of you can’t stand him, however, Trump knocked it out of the park with this speech,” Novoselic wrote. He said he disagreed with the idea of mobilizing the U.S. military to quell violence in cities. “The president should not be sending troops into states… nevertheless, his tone in this speech is strong and direct.”
He concluded: “Most Americans want peace in their communities and President Trump spoke to this desire. Never mind the legal details that few understand — Trump said he would stop the violence and this speaks to many.”
The bassist angered fans with his comments, prompting them to express their outrage on social media.

Buddy, what narrative? You posted a quote praising Trump's tone from a full-on has-been musician in a thread about police violence. Novoselic has no authority to speak on the matter, which in itself only vaguely touches on the issue at hand. There's no narrative here to follow.

I'm curious about this, too. What "narrative" does a random musician's subjective opinion of the tone of a speech go against?

He claims he doesnt want the military and he doesnt mind the legal details but Trump's speech was great.

yeah, it is. Its a weird opinion to make it public.
I get that you can talk to your buddies about, " ey i liked the tone of that speech but i dont want to see the military on the street" but to make it an statement is so weird and tone deaf.

Wrong thread for the post, but that's no biggie. That's his opinion, which is fine for him to have as well.
Questions - do you agree with him? How do you feel Trump's handling of the situation has been? And do you believe the military is a good call or no?

Novoselic followed-up too:
He offered clarification of his views in a public follow-up post on Facebook: “As an avowed independent, I don’t endorse a major party or candidate. And it feels insane to have to say this , but I don’t support fascism, and I don’t support an authoritarian state. I believe in a civilised society and that we all have to work toward that.”
Novoselic describes himself as an “anarcho-capitalist socialist moderate I-don’t know”. He has campaigned for political reform. In the 2016 election, he supported Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson.
