There's been a shitload of good pop in recent years. And Uptown Funk is aural cancer.

I judge pop songs by these metrics:

-Danceability
-Catchiness/Number of Hooks
-Quality of performance
-Musical Interest
-Sense of fun

Yeah. I live in Midtown now, but grew up in Uptown

Almost bought tickets to High on Fire/Meshuggah in a week. But then I looked up HOF's setlist and they weren't playing a single song off Blessed Black Wings, so that axed that.

Chuck Berry . 90 years old. new album out next year.

I'd never heard Uptown Funk before. I'm listening to it right now. It's a lot of fun. Nothing that I call "the best of..." But, yeah. Totally fun.

My wife says that to me all the time. She's astounded by the music I haven't heard.

There's an episode of Parks and Rec where Ginuwine sings Pony. And I didn't recognize the song at all. I'm sure I must have heard it at some point but it didn't ring a bell. Like at all. My wife knew all the words and refused to believe I didn't know it, too. I'm supposed to be the one in the relationship with a deep knowledge of music. But I have a huge gap when it comes to hip-hop/rap/commercial pop/funk music.

Anyway, it doesn't surprise me that I haven't heard it. But it also doesn't surprise me that it surprises you.

it bothers me that Lindsey Buckingham is the boy and Stevie Nicks is the girl. It bothers me a lot.
