The numbers for newly affected are lower each day, and while that might be unreliable, numbers of patients entering hospital has dropped to as low as 4 per day. For intensive care patients, the numbers of new patients has dropped to half of what it was, in just one week. Hopefully the start of even more positive trends. 35 people have died, which is sad. Yet, it's still lower than most comparable numbers, after Norway early on looked like one of the countries with most infected. Someone must be doing something right.
Noticed that your neighbor Sweden took a more casual approach and is up to 180 deaths. Really should be no doubt anymore that keeping people home works.
Yes, and they are still doing it, schools and bars open in Sweden.

Norway is a global outlier in most things, but at least one sane place will survive this.

I had no idea what you were talking about. People have to watch past 1:30 to really enjoy this.

Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

:shake:

Hospitals nationwide are threatening to fire health care workers who publicize a lack of personal protective equipment (PPE) or other shortcomings in their working conditions. Some nurses and doctors have already been terminated for speaking out, Bloomberg News reported. 'Health care workers are being muzzled in an attempt by hospitals to preserve their image,' said a Washington State Nurses Association spokesperson.

A plea from doctors in Italy: To avoid Covid-19 disaster, treat more patients at home
https://www.statnews.com/2020/03/21/cor ... s-at-home/
To have any hope of avoiding that disaster in the U.S., the health care system needs to decentralize and make the community a focus of interventions on a par with patients, said Cereda, a graduate of the medical school at the University of Milan who has been in touch with colleagues in Italy.

Although doctor house calls seem as prehistoric as rotary phones, home-based care for Covid-19 patients may be necessary in order to protect the community even if, to an individual patient, hospital care might be more effective.

"This is what we mean by moving from patient-centered medicine: Of course you still care for and care about the patient, but you also think about the population as a whole. That change would decrease transmission and protect other patients as well as health care workers."

We have a fleet of fast response teams in high powered cars going all over the country testing people in their homes. We’re up to 5000 tests a day. There is a backlog building as we build capability to respond and keep people at home rather than hospital and a delay growing out of test centers
But the Italian advice is sound mostly.

It's pretty demoralizing to be in New York right now, because on top of everything else, the feeling you're getting from how the federal government (not just Trump) speaks about this is that this is already a lost cause.

2015 Italian state tv broadcast on how Chinese scientists in the city of... three guesses... had created a Coronavirus based on SARS.
